So sorry. On a practical note though, I encourage you to talk to a couple of local repair shops. Ask them what they see most of and what they themselves would buy. We have a Fischer/Paykel washer & dryer. Had to have it repaired one time in 15 years - the repair man had never even heard of them cause he'd never seen one in his shop. Hope that is helpful. I will second the Fischer & Paykel washer and dryer. I'm on my second washer (six people in our house doing 20+ loads a week for many years) but have had the same dryer for close to 17 years which is pretty much unheard of anymore. Very few parts because the washer is a direct drive transmission and the most expensive part (when we checked 5 or so years ago) is the computer board on the washer which was about $90. The last time I checked they retailed around $600 ea. I would check Black Friday sales for a great way to stock up on some smaller stuff....Rubbermaid kitchen containers, baking pans, towels, blankets, sheets, etc. Best of luck to you!

I'm sorry to hear of your divorce. If I had to start over I would downsize and only purchase what I really needed. The one small appliance I could not do without is my clothes steamer. I can touch up my daily outfit without getting out the iron and it only takes a minute. I have a con air one at the moment and while inexpensive , it works just fine.
