This is just me... but just saw a commercial with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett and she just sounds soooo lovely and beautiful... and when she sang the Sound of Music song... then I think about all the weird stuff she does.. meat dress, egg thing.. stuff like that... I would just love to see her being semi-normal and listen to her beautiful voice than watching her act so flippin weird at award shows and such....
I know she is an 'artist' and that is her thing.. but for me, I would probably listen to her WAY more when she sings the classics....

She has a beautiful voice.
As long as she does some classical and some oddly out there, I'm good.
She's never boring!

I was never a fan especially at the beginning.. then I saw her on some show (probably an award show) and she sounded so good and was 'normal' and it was all about the singing instead of the props... I don't listen to her that much unless I catch it here or there... but I will stop and listen when she is doing something classy.

Judge the talent by the talent? Or judge the talent by the looks? Hmmm...
She is wonderfully talented and artistic too. Art is subjective.

I never paid too much attention to her because of her over the topness... I just wasn't interested in her degree of weird. That commercial with Bennett though really highlights her voice... just lovely. I'd listen more if she just sang.

I have the lady gaga tony bennett album. Fantastic.
I watched a show with the two of them when it was released. She was classically trained and jazz is one of her fortes.
She had trouble getting work and attention as just an artist. It was not until she started drawing attention to herself that her music was finally noticed on a large scale. It's all marketing.

I agree... there is artistic then there is just get me noticed.. she leans towards.. look at me... but on the other hand maybe that is what got her noticed and now I notice her... but whenever she shows up in some wacky outfit or whatever you call it, I usually tune her out.. When she is dressed classy or half way normal, that gets my attention... the voice is what gets noticed.

she is very talented. I think of her as an over-the-top Madonna circa 1980s/90s - its all marketing like gsquaredmom said - which makes her kind of brilliant, or at least she has really good people behind her

I see her more as a female version of Elton John, at least an early Elton John, with similar talents and an over-the-top, look-at-me style. It seems she has dialed it down quite a bit in the last year or so, especially since she got engaged. I think she's very talented and very smart.

I love her! She is a very smart and talented lady! I must say though that I'm having trouble watching AHS this season- she's great, but very bloody...

She did an interview years ago with her parents (Oprah maybe?). She was very grounded. It seemed clear there was a GaGa personality for promotion, but another, inner, person for life and relationships.

I think she's great! I like people who are different and not afraid to be different. That's what puts them on another level imho. I can't say I like everything she's done - the meat dress was pretty yuck imho but you can't deny her musical ability.

I love her, her voice is amazing and I don't mind a bit of freaky weird stuff now and again. The meat dress was bloody awful though.

She is a genius at marketing herself.. And now that people are listening to her she can let the voice speak for itself. I'm a fan.

I'm middle age, almost 43, & I love the woman, all her persona's, even the crazy meat dress.
Then again, I was that free spirit when I was young. The "weird" moniker fit me well. If only I'd had her singing voice!

I think she has the voice of an angel, is a marketing genius and her fiancé is about the hottest man on earth. And this is coming from a really old lady who doesn't really like much top 40 type music.

I saw her on SNL. She was playing piano alone and singing and I was stunned. I wish she would stick to normal stuff.

I always had a bit of a soft spot for her, as she's a nerd. Alumni of John Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth. She's a very talented and clever lady. I may not always "get" the outrageous costumes - but I know a few talented singers who've never succeeded beyond performing the national anthem at a local venue. Right or wrong, the package matters, and she figured out how to be successful in an extremely competitive industry.

I saw her in concert last summer as part of a bigger bill and wasn't expecting much. She was FANTASTIC, really engaged the audience brought one of her "super fans" up on stage. She had a great message for the kids in the crowd about being different. It totally changed my impression of her. Her voice and stage show were phenomenal too.
