Has anyone every cut anything other than paper with thin dies. Like spellbinders or memory box, impression obsession. I know in some descriptions it says it will, but I have yet to try it.
If you have are you using regular felt, like a 8.5 x 11 sheets I have saw loose to buy, or are you using a thinner felt.
Also have you cut fabric? if so what kind, are there better ones to try?

I have cut wool felt....I get some from papertrey ink and have gotten some at Joann's. I find that I need to run itthru 2 times with the more intricate dies. I use the magnetic platform with my steel dies...that seems to be a little thicker so I haven't needed a shim or anything...but I'm not sure how it would would the the regular platforms ...hope this makes sense.....

We sell wool felt in the store and I've cut it plenty of times with the thin dies. I have found that our thin metal shim works awesome to help cut felt and fabric. Your sandwich is the same for cutting paper, etc. however I add that metal shim between the paper and the clear cutting pad. So, the metal die will end up cutting the fabric and into the metal shim so metal hits metal when cutting the felt. One quick tip...we have our wool felt on sale at 50% off through the end of July for our 12 Days of Summer sales.

I cut some wool felt to make bows but I also had to run it through twice. It cut nicely.

Ooo, thanks for the sales info, Lisa When using fabric/felt, I use my metal shim on Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine and it works like a charm even with the intricate cut ones. Good luck!

Good to know. I will have to give this a try. I would have thought the felt would be to thick for the thin dyes.

I only have a Cuttlebug so would be interested to know what that is capable of cutting. I have cut Grungepaper on it which works ok. Not tried felt or fabric yet though.

I have cut a lot of felt and fabric with my Papertrey dies but I always use wool felt and back the fabric with heat n bond. I used to cut felt in my cuttlebug before I got my big shot and it worked fine though I needed to run it through a couple of times.

I used the banner die that came in my SC card kit to cut the ribbon that came in the card kit. It cut like butter!

You really need to use wool felt. The sheets of felt in Mikes or Hobby Lobby don't cut well, as most of them are polyester fibers and the fibers "squish", rather than cut.
I've used the WoolFelt (brand name) from JoAnn's with good luck and that only about 35% wool. It cut nicely, even letters. I find the felt from PTI cuts the best. It's thin and cuts very cleanly.
I've cut cork, soda cans, fabric... The wafer thin dies cut a lot. Use your imagination and start trying new mediums!

Did you see the adorable felt bows on Maggie Holmes' blog just a couple of days ago? I had to buy some felt so I could make some. They are cut with one of her Crate Paper dies. maggieholmes.typepad.com/my_weblog/2014/07/diy-pretty-fancy-felt-bow-clips.htmlETA: At the bottom of the blog post there's an Etsy link to a wool felt provider with a 10% coupon code. I got 20 sheets in the colors of my choosing (and they are gorgeous) for $9 plus shipping.

I use to cut the thinner foam sheets with Sizzlit dies on my old Big Red Sizzix. I haven't tried it with the new style of dies and my Big Shot. Also I've cut fabric flowers. I layered several layers of fabric to get a cleaner cut or one layer of fabric and one sheet 65lb paper.

I have to see if I have any felt at all. I thought I did. Doesn't Mike's sell felt? I have a fabric store. But other than that I really don't know where to go to get some.
