Seriously these little printers are too cute! But I have the selphy and I'm really debating if I need one. Does anyone have the selphy and the instax printer? Is it redundant?

I think they are two different beasts. I don't have one but I do have an Instax camera. It is a "fun" thing for me. Yes, I have scrapped them. Yes, it is neat to have at a party. If my memory serves me though, the Instax printer only prints that "instax" size, correct? So you are looking at a 2x3 picture. I would think with some playing you can get that same look without the printer. I have made Instax looking photo but on my larger printer. I have not tried it on my Selphy.
I know. I didn't help you with any decision making, did I? Just a thought on the comparison though.

I thought about it but decided I wouldn't get enough use out of it to justify the price. I can print something similar on my regular printer if I'm just going for the look.

I just got an Instax printer and I love it! I also want a Selphy. They're totally different IMO.

I think it does seem different in the sense that the Instax seems more portable and tiny photos. I don't have either! I've resigned myself to just use my big Canon printer and I use apps to print more than one photo on a page. You could do that with Selphy if you are just looking for smaller photos?! Instax printers have come down a lot in price, but that could change depending on popularity. I know Polaroid has something similar. Photojojo always carries these type products.

scrapcat thanks for posting the link. It's a very cool site. Does anyone have the Polaroid Zip Instant printer?

I have a Selphy and an LG Pogo printer. I love both and use them differently. The Selphy is for pics I want to scrap. The LG is for photos I want to put in my journal. I also take my LG with me on trips since it is so small and I put pics in my travel journal.
The LG is similar to the Instax, just a different size and technology. The LG is about the size of a smart phone and it uses Bluetooth so I don't have to worry about finding wi-fi.

I have a Selphy and an Instax printer. I use both all of the time. I LOVE the Instax one so much, even though I already own an Instax camera. If I scrapped 12x12, the photos would probably seem too small, but I prefer 6x8 and other small formats for both layouts and pocket scrapbooking. Instax mini photos look great in 3x4 pockets and still allow a little room for pretty paper to show behind the photo.
I wouldn't recommend the Zinc Polaroid stuff as the photos come out super grainy in my opinion, but maybe it has improved since I bought the first version of the newer Polaroid cameras. The prints are more of a paper sticker than instant film unless they've introduced something new that I'm not aware of (entirely possible because I love my Instax printer so much that I haven't cared about anything else "instant" since the moment I purchased it when they were first released).

Instax prints are little Polaroids. Not the same as a printed photo. They have a soft fuzziness that adds the perfect bit of whimsy to a cute little photo.
