In recent years, they've faded from the spotlight, but today the McCaughey septuplets turn 18. I remember Anne Curry from the Today Show would visit every year, but somewhere along the way, that stopped. Their family seems very close-knit and well adjusted. I'm very happy for all of them.

I liked seeing them on Today show when they used to be on on their birthday.
My oldest is just a few months older than the septuplets. I thought they were freshmen in college, but I see they start college next year. I can't imagine paying for college for that many all at the same time! We are just paying for our freshman at an out of state college, and that is expensive enough!
They look great in the picture! What a blessing to have all those kids!

I saw something about them on tv not that long ago. Just amazing......the stress of life for the parents. The accomplishments no matter how small for each and every one of them in that family is just fantastic. I just don't think I could endure all they have gone through.

Thanks for sharing the article. They seem like a wonderful, down to earth family. Mom is going to be in for a bit of loneliness when they all leave for college.

I can't imagine paying for college for that many all at the same time! They were all offered full scholarships from a few universities at birth. I love the photo of them all grown up now.

They live about five miles down the road from me. I've seen the mom a few times over the years at the local JoAnn's. Our son is about 18 months older than the McCaughey's and I remember their births well...it was big news at the time and the doctor that delivered the septuplets was the doctor who performed my amino when I was pregnant.
They were offered to scholarships to a particular college, not free college educations. None of them are taking that offer. One of the boys is going into the army, and several are going to go to the local community college. The Des Moines Register just did a big article on them and what their plans were for the future.

In a time where we've seen the likes of Kate Plus Eight, the Duggars and the travesty of the Suleman octuplets, the McCaughey's have earned my utmost respect for how they have raised their children.
The only offers they accepted were those that would benefit the children. They then just settled in to be nothing but parents to their children and have done an amazing job of it.
I think they rock. Big time.
