OH gosh, I'm a huge fan too! I DVR the new episodes of the show. I love to hate Christopher Kimball. He's such an annoying nerd, kinda jerky sometimes too. He knows his stuff but really, it's Bridgett and the gang who do all the labor. He just stands there and eats, lol. I used to subscribe, but then I just hate storing all those mags, and then I could never remember which issue a certain recipe was in. Then once day I discovered if you just Google "Cooks Illustrated lemon meringue pie" or "America's Test kitchen xxx recipe"..somewhere, some blogger has posted the recipe on their blogsite, along with their own reviews! Oh Happy Dance. Such a time saver!

Love them! Their method of pan-searing chicken changed our entire dinner experience. I don't go for many of their "gourmet" ingredients because we are a house of exceptionally picky eaters, but I frequently adapt them to our tastes or use their methods in a similar recipe I already have.

Love, love, love both magazines. Many of my favorite recipes come from the magazines and their "Best Recipe" cookbook. I have a pretty serious cookbook collection, but in case of fire, it is the ATK cookbooks that I would save.
I think that the focus of Cook's Country is regional food and Cook's Illustrated seems more focused on the science of basic cooking technique. Right now, we seem to make more recipes from CC than CI.

I used to subscribe to the magazine, but it became too expensive, IMO. Especially when you had to start paying the monthly online rate too. So now I just buy the cookbooks.
I've never had a fail with their recipes. Three favs are Guacamole, Chicken Picata and French Toast. The BEST French Toast ever!

Love the shows, love their books. They are my go to for anything. I have never made anything for them that hasn't been awesome. Their product reviews are always spot on too. I just love them!

Love both shows and always try to catch them when they are on. Their Thai Green Curry recipe is the best! I don't know why they have the two shows; in fact, I wondered the same thing myself this past weekend.

ATK and Cook's Country are some of my favorite shows to watch on PBS on a Saturday afternoon especially in Spring or fall!
The shows remind me of watching Julia Child cook since they actually show you how to cook. The technical aspect of ATK and CC's really appeals to me just like it did when I first started watching Julia Child as a young child. They all make it truly fascinating to the me the home cook.

I used to subscribe to Cook's Country. I rarely made anything in any of the magazines (maybe never) so I let it drop. I did like it though. I had no idea there were tv shows of them.

I just discovered ATK this past weekend on PBS. The episode was on grilling. We tried the recipe for grilled corn with herbed butter and it's delicious!

I enjoy the shows, but I don't think I've ever tried a recipe. The ONE thing that really, really annoys me about the show (at least ATK) is that annoying music they play between segments; it's the same guitar strumming each and every time.

Those are my absolute favorite cooking shows.
Except, no matter what they're cooking, DH wants me to make fried chicken after we watch. He learned from that show to add a little baking soda when dredging the chicken to get the perfect golden brown color. I guess he associates fried chicken with that ow permanently now.
