I baked a chocolate bourbon pecan pie today and i've got cranberry sauce simmering along now. My house smells heavenly. I've got bread in the oven drying for dressing and we're in the process of scrubbing the house down.
My part of the menu includes
Turkey (currently thawing) Dressing Mashed Potatoes (I'm thinking i'll make them tomm and then reheat thursday) Roasted sweet potatoes broccoli salad corn pudding green bean casserole. pumpkin cheesecake (going in the oven in a few) peanut butter cookies (tonight)
I'm hoping the bird thaws tonight so I can go ahead and roast it tomorrow.
What are you prepping early?

I just popped the cornbread for the dressing into the oven. Won't make the dressing until Thursday morning. Tomorrow I will bake a Pumpkin Spice cake and a pecan pie. We don't do turkey, but I still need to run out and pick up the spiral ham. It's just the 3 of us this year so I am keeping it pretty simple, which leaves more time for sewing!

I would really like to be getting a jump start on things but my kitchen sink is stopped up and the plumber can't come until tomorrow so I need to stay clear of the kitchen or I'll get too frustrated!!

Today I've roasted vegetables, made pie shells, prepped the turkey brine and got it soaking. I'll probably mix up the pumpkin pie "batter" tonight to let it rest overnight and will probably make the chocolate pies tonight. I've already made the mashed potatoes and the cornbread dressing. Unfortunately I seem to have lost my brain, aka the paper where I wrote down my schedule, so now I'm kind of adrift...I have to produce a real meal tomorrow night and Friday night, too. Yippee!
ETA also made turkey broth today with the neck, etc. I use it to thin gravy if need be.
ETA #2 I knew I was missing something...made 3 pans of brownies on Monday and 4 loaves of apricot/orange/cranberry bread on Sunday. (A couple of the breads will be for Christmas, though.)

When I cook, the only things done in advance are the pies(done by my mom), and I dry the bread and chop the veggies for stuffing.

The Nesco roaster works as a makeshift oven- made my stuffing in it one year (had it in a foil pan, then put it in the roaster). I did the turkey in it one year, but didn't love it for that.

My DD is making brownies tonight and I might chop up the squash and get that going. That seems to reheat pretty easily and will free up a burner Thursday. I think I'll also bake a banana bread for breakfast.

We are doing a Honeybaked ham. We are not turkey people, so that makes my life easier. I am making three pies tomorrow along with a family recipe cranberry salad. The hard part will be keeping everyone out of it all until Thursday.

The turkeys got smoked today, so that's done. I got one for tomorrow and one to freeze for later.
Tomorrow I'll make apple pie, pecan pie bars, and pumpkin pie bars, as well as the cranberry sauce. I might make the gravy ahead of time, too. Depends on how much I get done tomorrow.
The dressing ingredients will be put together tomorrow night as they'll have to sit in the fridge overnight.
All I'll have to do on Thursday is mashed potatoes, green beans and mac and cheese.

My mom has one of these she uses and we just bought one this summer. I better see if I need to bring it and more chairs I'm not doing any cooking today, have to work Tomorrow I work from home so I might do something, hopefully! But I don't know what I need to bring yet. Well other than cranberry sauce.

We had a revision of the schedule: My mom's jury duty is over as of today, so we are now splitting duties. I am only the hook for green bean casserole, the dressing and a chocolate pie.
Tomorrow I plan on doing all the prep-the chopping and dicing and I will make the chocolate pie. Then I will get up on Thursday morning at the ass crack of dawn and throw together the green bean casserole and plop it in the crock pot (the onions I will bake right before we eat and throw them on top.) Then I will throw the dressing stuff together, plop it in the oven and then relax until I go to my mom's.
A busy hour or two, then easy peasy for the rest of the day.

I'm mostly cleaning today. Tomorrow I will be making several batches of cornbread for dressing, an ice box chocolate eclair cake, a pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing, deviled eggs and cooking my sweet potatoes for my casserole.

Hahaha! I have the jump on all of you this year!! ALL MY PREP WORK IS DONE!!! And you managed to pawn it off on others!! You go, girl! I'm glad you are able to keep a sense of humor about your situation. Your positive attitude in the face of all of this should be a lesson to all of us about how to accept bad things with grace, even when we want to scream about them.

My mom does it all and she pre makes everything except for the turkey. Our menu includes : Turkey Stuffing Dressing Oyster dressing Green beans with shaved almonds Carrots and parsnips Rolls Rich mashed potatoes Broccoli and cheese rice casserole
Plus pumpkin and pecan pie. My mom usually makes everything besides the turkey and pies the week before and keeps it all frozen until the night before. It all gets warmed up while the turkey rests. We make the pies the day before. My aunt and my two girl cousins come over and we make an afternoon of it.

I do most of the prep on Tues and Wed.
Bread for stuffing/dressing is prepared. I chop up and saute veggies like onion and celery for stuffing, & ALL other sides, including cooking the sausage for the stuffing.
All fresh veggies are prepared on the day. As are the mashed potatoes.] Cranberry sauce is made on Sunday or monday.
I used to have a spread sheet.
I pretty much just assemble and cook on the day.
I put all the prepared items in a baggie with the name of the dish on it. So they are measure and ready to go. makes it easier when people are helping in the kitchen

Tonight I'm making this Crack Cake which is a new recipe for me, but hopefully is as good as they say. It actually says it is better the 2nd & 3rd day, so I kinda have to make it today, right? I'm also going to go ahead and make the pumpkin pie and the sweet potato casserole (though I won't cook the casserole til Thursday). I have a tiny kitchen and am a messy cook who loves to cook but hates cleaning up. I'll do the bare minimum in between recipes because my housecleaner is coming tomorrow afternoon and will do the big clean-up anyways.

Today I finished grocery shopping, made cranberry sauce, and whacked the arils out of a pomegranate (for my brussels sprouts salad). I washed my roasting pan (it's a new one).
Tomorrow I'll make pies, chop celery, trim green beans, shred brussels sprouts, get my dishes and napkins out, and pick up some olives and cheeses for lunch/appetizers.
I'll actually put the side dishes together Thursday morning. The plan is to get two of them into the oven during the last few minutes the turkey is cooking--and then the others once the bird comes out to rest. It's a feat of coordination, but I kind of thrive on this stuff. There are only five of us, so I know I need to tone it down a bit, LOL.
