Cold water thaw. If your sink is clean and big enough, put it in cold water and change the water often. Look it up for more specifics but we have done it in much less time. No sink? Use a cooler in your tub. You want it to be easy to drain and refill.

When I was growing up my Mom always put the turkey in a sink of cold water Wednesday night to thaw for cooking on Thursday. Just make sure to change the water often and it'll be fine.

I was also going to suggest a cold water thaw. Change it frequently, you don't want it to get warm. Believe it or not, cold water will thaw it.

Put the turkey in a cooler with cold water. It will thaw over night and remain a cold temperature. I've done it and it worked great.

I just happened to check on my 14 lb bird in the fridge from Monday and it hasn't done much thawing. So into the cold water in the kitchen sink until I go to bed tonight. It says to change water every 30 minutes and you do 30 lbs for each pound.

But I don't do it. Too scared of food poisoning. I once had food poisoning so bad I was lying on the bathroom floor praying to die. Never again. I take no chances now. Glad it works ok for you.

Also make sure that you take it out of the fridge an hour or so before you cook it. It is supposed to be room temperature before you put it in the oven. Mine thawed for three days and is now in the sink. I am cooking it tomorrow. Every Thanksgiving it takes about 30-45 minutes longer to cook than it should and then all of my sides are overcooked. I rarely get it timed correctly.

Mine has been in my fridge since Sun and still not thawed. It's about 16lbs. I'll be putting it in a cold water bath in the morning and hopefully by late afternoon ready for the brine.

I buy fresh turkeys just so I don't have to stress about the thawing. Raw poultry is so gross--but raw poultry with a pink, slushy, snow cone up its arse is grosser!!
