My niece is into fairies. I'm wondering if these books (Flower Fairies of the Spring etc) are too juvenile for a seven year old. The Amazon description shows the age range as 3-5 but the illustrations are so beautiful that I would think they could still be appreciated.

I'm fairly sure she would love those books for the illustrations iluvpink .....especially the Christmas fairies in the Flower Fairies of the Winter book as those illustrations are especially gorgeous! Adults collect those books - I've got the full set and also the hardback edition just because of the illustrations!

I collected these as a teen so I'm going to have to go with 'not too old'.

personally I think the given age range is too young for both the illustrations and the poetry; so yes, I'd give it to a 7 year old who is "into" fairies.. The words and syntax in the poetry are not familiar language constructs with today's children (maybe for early 1900's children)

Definitely not too young for a 7 year old ... I'm 48 and still love those flower fairies

Do you think she might like the Brian Froud fairy books as well? We have a lot of fairy fans in our family as well.

I am sure my DD was over 7 when she received some of those books. The books are beautiful, no matter the reading level.

Off topic but if she loves fairies is she too young for those ear things that are like wire pointed like fairy ears and you can even attach earrings to? I want to make some so I can wear earrings without my I pierced ears and it keeps your hair behind your ears I saw someone in one of my fb groups who makes them and she got so many order requests ... Maybe next year

I received a set of Flower Fairies books (one for each season) from my Aunt when I was about your niece's age and I loved them. I still have those same books 30 years later. I say get them

I bought a couple of flower fairy figurines for my fairy garden from the local garden center this past summer. I think they were really ornaments but they are beautiful.

I've always loved them and I definitely think that they would be lovely for a 7 year old.

Thanks. I bought her one of the books, a paper doll set and a post card set to send her post cards. I mentioned her in another post, she's had a rough life due to my BIL's issues and lives far away. We're going to send her post cards etc once in a while, I hope that little something will help.
