If you use pandora and like Christmas music, today I highly recommend the Choral Christmas classics station. Tons of a cappella, choral, hymns and anthems and carols. Mostly religious with a bit of secular for good measure.
I was listening in the car on my way to the mall this morning and it was wall to wall Handel, so if you saw a crazy lady at Tysons Corner singing vigorously in the car, it was probably me. I love few things the way I love this style of Christmas music.
So tell me what festive music YOU are listening to right now!

My two favorite songs are
River - sung by Sam Palladio from the Nashville cast
I believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake
I'll put some links in later. :-)
Edited to fix name spelling

I love 'The Gift' by Jim Brickman but I never get to hear it.
Other than that I love 'Christmas Canon', 'Carol of the Bells', 'Handel's Messiah' and 'Oh Holy Night.'
My Christmas Day favorite is 'Joy to the World'

One of my most favorite Christmas memories is of my mother baking, with her cherished Mormon Tabernacle Choir album of Handel's Messiah on in the back ground singing at the top of her lungs. It was/is an annual thing for her. She has a lovely voice, as do her sisters who were usually on hand for the baking and singing. We lived in a tiny house and you could hear them all over...and even when I was an asshole teenager, there was something so incredibly beautiful and comforting listening to them in the world's smallest kitchen, singing and laughing and baking and the most wonderful smelling baked goods coming at the end. When I was little I always thought that the sisterhood and their singing was part of the magic that made the cookies so good.

The first one that came to mind is TSO's Christmas Canon. I love the classics, too...Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc.

Lolol, I was *this* close to going out to Tysons this morning but then I recovered from that momentary insanity and stayed home. I love choral music so I'll give it a try on Pandora. I haven't broken out the Christmas music yet, although I did listen to a few versions of "O Holy Night" for the thread asking for suggestions.

Right now I am listening to Cee Lo Green's Magic Moment, one of my newer purchases. The first "album" of the Christmas season is always Bing Crosby White Christmas. I have started listening to Handel's Messiah 2 CD set when I am home alone during Christmas. It is wonderful music and I just love the build up from the first song.

I haven't started listening to Christmas music yet, but I have been insanely in love with Manheim Steamroller Christmas music for probably 25 years. It is my all-time favorite. (I'm showing my age there, I'm sure.) I also love Amy Grant's Christmas album, and the one done a few years ago by the Glee cast.

Anything by Harry Connick, Jr, or Pentatonix.
I like HCJ, because not only does he sing a classic, or two, but he also writes his own music. I like different songs. I get tired of the same 10 classics being sung by 10,000 different singers/bands.
One favorite song of mine is "Mary, did you know".

Does anyone in about their 50's remember the Partridge Family Christmas album? There was a song I really liked called, "A Christmas Card for You." Need to see if anyone uploaded that one to You Tube.

I only listen to Christmas music on Christmas Day if at all possible. I worked in a mall and had a MIL who listened to it for months at a time. My husband call me Scrooge.

My favorite is the Charlie Brown Christmas Song. My preference for the holidays is anything from the 40-60s (think Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and the like). I love to listen to the Sinatra channel on Sirius during the holidays. It just feels like Christmas to me. Probably has to do with all the old movies I watched as a kid.

Last month I bought this version of Handel's Messiah. And it is wonderful! The Messiah was a huge favorite of my grandpa's so it always makes me think of him. I also bought two albums of harp music that I really like: 3 Harps for Christmas Vols 1 and 2. I am really enjoying these. My husband and I really love jazzy Christmas music. Some of the CDs we listen to a lot are Christmas Songs by the Eddie Higgins Trio (I linked to the CD but it's also available as mp3), Bossa Nova Christmas by Jack Jezzro, and Christmas and Cocktails by Beegie Adair. My favorite choral (and a capella) album is Songs of Angels by the Robert Shaw Chorale. I've had it for about 15 years and it's still an album that gets played a lot every year. And if I had to pick one Christmas album out of my collection to save from a fire, it would be A Merry Christmas with Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. If you like classic holiday swing, you've got to get this one. I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at that.

You can get the whole album at Amazon: A Partridge Family Christmas Card. The Partridge Family was slightly before my time, (I think I saw it in re-runs) but I had a friend years ago who was obsessed with them, and we listened to the Christmas album many, many times!

DD has most of the Noël album on her bedtime playlist and she listens to it every night all year round. Has for several years! It's very soothing music. I also like Emmanuel, God With Us and Breath of Heaven (both Amy Grant) and The Gift (Aselin Debison). link I also like a cheapie CD I bought from a $5 bin a long time ago called Light Jazz Christmas and a few of the A Winter's Solstice albums.

I will have to add Choral Christmas to my Pandora mix!! Earlier today at work, I had a mix of Christmas Classics (Burl Ives, Gene Autry, etc.) and Christmas Pops going on; it got me in the Christmas spirit for sure.
I also like listening to Christmas hymns and Orchestral Christmas instrumental for a change, as well... I think I have at least 6 or 8 different stations marked as favorites on my Pandora.
eta: as far as my personal collection of Christmas music (because I do have a collection, lol) I have number of absolute favorites that are essential in my rotation--
-- A Charlie Brown Christmas (Vince Guaraldi trio)
-- Andy Williams Christmas album
-- Tijuana Christmas (Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass)
-- The Bells of Dublin (The Chieftains)
-- Ultra-Lounge Presents Christmas Cocktails (50s - 60s lounge music; I love this one!)
-- Nog (Christmas album by The Blenders, a very lush-sounding men's quartet that sings primarily a cappella, with wonderful harmonies)
-- Handel's Messiah A Soulful Celebration (gospel album with a ton of soul and jazz singers including Stevie Wonder, the Harlem Boys' Choir, Al Jarreau, etc. I always end up singing along to this one)

It's not Christmas without the following:
Santa Claus is coming to town by Bruce Springsteen
Oh Holy Night by whoever, I don't think there are any versions I hate
Silent Night by Stevie Nicks
There are more, but I'm drawing a blank!
It Came Upon. A Midnight Clear by Sixpence None The Richer is a great version!

For years the only version I had ever heard was Joni Mitchell's. I hadn't ever heard it until I got the Nashville XMas album last year. I really fell in love with that version. I realized it was a Joni Mitchell song and youtubed it. It was good but I didn't like it was well as Sam Palladio's version. Probably because I heard that one first. ;-) The melody of that song is so pretty.

I like older Christmas music and holiday jazz. So my playlist includes Bing Crosby, Gene Autry', Burl Ives, Perry Como, Andy Williams, etc as well as the Vince Ghiraldi Trio and Beegie Adair.
I am also a fan of The Carpenters holiday album. I admit too that I have Kenny G "have yourself a merry little Christmas" and some novelty songs. Things like "the 12 Pains of Chrsitmas" or Bob and Doug MacKenzie's version of 12 Days, Montgomery Gentry's "merry Christmas from the family" and the Chipmunks (original). One of the more "modern" items on my playlist is Kelly Clarkson's "Underneath the Tree".
