Well, since our new kitten is Luna, I'm partial to that name!! I also like the name Heidi. I think that is an awesome name for a girl puppy.

Aren't the Anatolian dogs the ones many zoos use to calm down cheetahs? I've seen articles on them and they look adorable. I would probably name her from her personality or from someplace special that her ancestors might have lived. My friend has a big female dog named Riley that is really cute. I am also partial to Avery. Pick something sweet, because she will no doubt be a sweetheart. And monthly pictures will be needed.

She is soooooo cute! Same mixed breed at the dog park is Tonto - he is one BIG goofy fur ball, your baby should be fun! Mia is very common, like when a kid yells "Mom" at the mall and 3/4 of the women turn and look! Yell Mia and everything from a mini dachshund to a husky come running:) My vote for a name, sorry only ever had male dogs, but we did consider Winnie if current dog ended up female.
We had a neighbor who had a Doberman and someone stole the puppies out of the yard - the poor dog howled for months and died within a year of what they said was a broken heart...
Give her a hug from me!

I hate dog thieves. I your new addition and I have no useful names, it took us about a week to name our adopted boy. We had to try out a few names and see what suited him. We named him Sheldon and often call him Shelly (bet that confuses some kids!). May you and your furbaby have a very long life together!

I have a Great Dane Maximus (Max) so I get your "big" idea. What about a mountain Name? If I ever get a female horse I will name her Annapurna. It's a mountain range in the Himalayas.
Your new pup is beautiful. I can't imagine how heartbroken you were.

Since Great Pyrenees are known for being protective, I kind of like Xena, which you mentioned.
The only other thing that comes to mind is Duchess (for her royalty)

Completely the wrong cultural reference, but the isiZulu word for large is khulu, no tricks in its pronunciation. She is gorgeous!

Not sure if I have ever shared this story...3 years ago someone came in our yard & stole our 3 year old chocolate labs, Bella & Moose. We loved them dearly and looked for them every day for 2 years We have decided it's time for another fur baby. Hubby & I are empty nesters & have now decided to add this "tiny" girl to our home. She should grow up to be a gentle giant. She is 3/4 Great Pyrenees & 1/4 Anatolian Shepherd. We are struggling with a name. We're looking for a name that will fit her when she is fully grown. Is there a female name that means BIG GIRL? What do you think? We've thought of Fannie (for spot on backside) Zena, LuLu, Tiny...What say the peas? I like LuLu. I also keep coming back to Tallulah (and you could easily shorten that to Lula - which is a hybrid of LuLu and Luna that has been mentioned a few times). Alba or Blanca (both mean white in Spanish). Love the name Blanca!
