So found out from the UPS lady that the regular mailman is on vacation. The sub came early today but I caught him after he put our mail in the box. I asked him if he had a package for me he checked and surprise, suprise, I had two - both of which would have fit in the box with the mail delivered earlier. I don't think he had any intention of leaving the packages today.
Oh, and last night I hung up after 95 minutes. I called USPS on another phone line in the house and the message said the office was closed. I'm sure I would still be on hold if I hadn't checked. I went online and rescheduled the delivery hoping it would work and it did.
I love the USPS and think it's amazing I can mail a letter so easily.
I hate lazy people and I think the sub is lazy. But all is well in my little world now so thanks for letting me vent.
Hope everyone has better USPS luck today.
Got a text from Amazon that the USPS could not deliver a package because it could not be left in an unsecured area. I was home at the time the delivery was supposedly attempted. I was at my desk which looks out the front door. The USPS claims to have left a notice that there was no safe place to deliver it. Apparently my front door is no longer safe yet they leave things there all the time. I went online to try to reschedule but since i did not get the notice they allegedly left, I can't follow the instructions as required so I had to call. The recording said the wait was 16 to 21 minutes. They lie.
The package is worth maybe $25 and contains Christmas gifts I bought on cyber Monday.
Sorry, frustrated and this is my safe place to vent.

It's so frustrating this time of year to keep up with getting everything delivered safely and without hassle. Every company or delivery person has their own quirks. I tend to leave notes on my front door telling them to leave it.
I've noticed UPS isn't even ringing the doorbell at my house. They just leave it.

Ugh. I'm not a fan of the USPS. I don't receive good service at my home or at the local post office when I go in person. It's very frustrating. Yesterday I had a sticker on my door from UPS saying they couldn't leave my package in an unsecure location or something similar. We literally get a package(s) from UPS 4-5 days a week. Why again wasn't my porch secure today?! AND DH was home. Fortunately I just had to sign and they'd leave it today, which they did. Along with seven other packages.

I bet it has something to do with the time of year and package theft. However, if you were home, then it's just laziness...not to mention the being on hold part of things...

USPS does NOT knock on our door. I'll be working 10 feet from the front door and hear the glass door quietly open and then close after they have put the package between the doors. It has freaked me out a few times. UPS, on the other hand, will knock loudly on the door and yell, "UPS!!!"

I feel your pain. I was shipping soap this past weekend and logged into my account to create a label. The site had a hiccup and charged me and didn't give me my shipping label. Grrrrr. I spent an hour on hold only to be told it showed as a failed transaction. I said my paypal was charged. Long story short. I spend 2 days on the phone for over an hour each to get my $$ back. I had to pay 2x since I had an order to get out the door. USPS is not my favorite.
We have a screened in front porch yet they continue to leave my packages sitting on my front steps in the damn rain. The screen door is right there. All they have to do it push it open and sit the package on the porch. UGH!

I feel your pain. Last week I had the same problem. I think the delivery people are lazy so they mark "unable to deliver, or error with address" so it isn't a ding on their delivery record, but a customer error, instead. It infuriates me. I called Amazon, only to have them offer to give me the number to call them.
Oh no! You are the customer, you call them and tell them to deliver to me.
Funny, I had three boxes and one got delivered and two didn't (until the next day)...

4 of my 5 remaining packages are due to be delivered by USPS. I'm not optimistic, since Monday, they delivered a package to an address that isn't even similar to mine.

Go to your local post office and ask to leave a message for your carrier. It could have been a sub that day. We live in rural area and have dogs (nice) with invisible fence. Our sub USPS carrier will not leave packages, I talked to our regular carrier and she told me about the sub. We have come up with another location for their packages. On another note, my husband was home as UPS was delivering a package and she threw dog treats out and set the package on the porch.

I was supposed to receive a package last Friday. Checked the tracking number, said it was out for delivery. It was small enough to fit in the mail box.
The mail came that day, no package. When I checked the tracking number later that night, it said "Business closed, will try to deliver on the next business day." Ummm, I'm not a business.
I called USPS and was on hold for 40 minutes. I had somewhere to go, so I couldn't stay on hold all night. Tried again on Saturday and couldn't get through. The package was finally delivered on Tuesday. It must have gotten sorted incorrectly at my local post office

UPS didn't have a problem dumping a $700 camera on my porch yesterday. I sat at home all day because I assumed I would have to sign for it. Nope, they didn't even ring the doorbell. My DD has the worst USPS mail carrier in history. She will raise the flag on her mailbox to signal outgoing mail, then be sitting in her office at the front of her house and watch the mail carrier drive right on by without picking up her mail. Last week she received a card in her mailbox that she needed to sign for a package that they were unable to deliver because she wasn't home. She was home all day. She has two crazy little dogs that bark when someone comes to the door and a doorbell that is very loud. Carrier did not attempt to deliver the package to her. She had to drag her two toddlers out in the rain to go to the post office. After almost an hour, they could not locate the package. The next day, the post office called and accused her of trying to pick up a package that did not belong to her. It turns out the package belonged to her neighbor and contained medication. The carrier had put the notice in the wrong mailbox which is not connected in any way to my DD's mailbox.

What gets me is that the postman will put the package right under the doorbell. It would literally take two seconds to ring that doorbell. Two seconds to reach out and press.

I have been home waiting for a package before when I KNOW the driver never came into the cul-de-sac. We get so little traffic that each vehicle is obvious, and my dog always lets me know if I don't hear. I think some less conscientious drivers might play tricks with packages for people that aren't normally home. ETA: With UPS here, I can go to the office after a certain time and pick up any packages I missed that day, if there is one I needed to sign for. Now, I have a good driver who will usually leave very specific instructions. ETA Even More: This timely video just came through my Facebook feed: UPS Santa
