I have red hair and 1 of my 3 sisters does also. There's red hair on both mom's side and dad's. My dd has red hair and my sister has a ds with dark auburn and dd with strawberry (out of her 4 kids). the other 2 sisters have no kids with red or reddish hair. So far no gkids with red hair!

I have no red in my hair unless I put it there from a bottle. LOL My kids are not red at all, although one of them looked like she might become strawberry blonde (but no luck). My first cousin has gorgeous red hair, and a different first cousin has a redheaded child. Maybe I'll get a redheaded grandbaby.

My dad had hair the colour of a carrot, and the palest grey eyes, that looked like diamonds glinting. Myself and two of my brothers are redheads, as I one of my sons. Another son is more on the auburn end of the spectrum. Apart from my dad, we all have green eyes, of various shades.

Same here! My 24 year old ds has red hair and we both cringe at the word ginger. I also have a co worker who regularly uses the term "Red headed step child" in a derogatory fashion as in, "Today must be the day I drew the short straw to be the red headed step child" if she's having a particularly challenging day. I always want to go smack her upside the head. On a positive note, my son has the most gorgeous red hair I've ever seen, it is a stunning shade of dark red and has strands of gold hair throughout. He's loved his hair his whole life, but just hates, hates, hates being referred to as a ginger.

My husband's mom, dad, brother and 3 uncles are red-headed and he is too. His nephew is a red-head. I have very light red highlights. We assumed that when we had kids they would have red hair, too. When my son was born, he had almost no hair and what he did have was so light it was almost white! I jokingly said he was the wrong kid and to put him back. Now as an adult, he has a red beard but dark brown hair. It's SO weird to see. My DD was born with RED RED RED hair. It was SO red it was almost purple! (like a very deep strawberry or cherry color).
My mom is adopted and my bio dad is unknown, so I don't know what will happen with grandkids if I get them.

I'm a majestic unicorn: I seriously need that t-shirt. My username translates to redhead. For anyone who is wondering where red hair comes from: there needs to be a red gene on BOTH the mother and father's genes. Neither parent needs to be a redhead: they just have to have the gene. And even with both parents having a red gene, there's only a 1 in 4 chance of being a redhead. Majestic unicorns, indeed!I love red hair! Of us 4 siblings, elder brother was black haired, sister was red, younger brother was blonde with a red beard and I was dark brown with red lights. I say was as we are all pretty much grey now. The red hasn't come through to any of our parents grandchildren or great grandchildren.
