I asked this over on the NSBR board, as well. I'm hoping someone will see this and know the answer. Remember the Versamarkers we used on paper that would essentially just *stain* the paper a darker color? Is there something similar for fabric? This summer we made an epic road trip out to Montana. I'm making commemorative sweatshirts for my family for Christmas. For part of it, I would like to make something similar to a watermark on fabric. IS there any product that is designed to do that? I thought about just using some oil but #1 I'm pretty sure that's a fire hazard and #2 I think it would bleed too much through the fibers. Any ideas?

If you used a bleach pen, or even bleach and a brush you might get your desired look.

Hmmm... I was hoping to *darken* the fabric, but this may be a good idea if I don't come up with something else! Thanks.

What about a fabric marker in a bit darker color of the sweatshirt color you're using.

What a great idea! I might pitch it to the folks at Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts (the manufacturers of Versa marker) I'm on the design team. It won't be in time for your project. Try out Imagine Crafts for a place to find Fabrico makers. Very easy to work with on natural fabrics.

Hmmm... I was hoping to *darken* the fabric, but this may be a good idea if I don't come up with something else! Thanks. Wendy Vecchi does amazing stencil work on jeans using Ranger Archival ink. IIRC she used a dark colour on dark jeans. Other colours might just work on your sweatshirts, tone on tone. If none of the other suggestions gel and if you have some of these inks, try her blog. Good luck!

I passed in the request to the Product development team at Imagine Crafts by Tsukineko.
