Are they impossible to find in your area? I have been in the phone every morning calling 2 stores trying to see if they have these on their shipment trucks. My son wants them so badly. Normally I wouldn't go this distance, but he loves decorating for holidays. 2 years ago we bought new lights. I was ecstatic because they were the color scheme I wanted which was white, red, green...repeat. Sounds silly, but they were hard to find. We buy tons of strands and love how the house looks once they are hung. Fast forward to this past weekend....we go to hang out lights and all the colored film over the lights have chipped off. We have white lights that no one is thrilled with. We could use them, but the color ones are what we like and want. So my son gets on his IPad to research lights. Next thing I know he is watching YouTube videos on these "Star Showers". My husband says "Sure, let's get 2 of these lasers for the house". And off they go to the store to buy them. 6 stores later they return with no laser lights! Everywhere is sold out, and people are searching for them left and right. My son really wants them. Short of stealing a neighbors I'm thinking it's not going to happen! Does your area have them??? (And no....I won't steal them. Although, deep down I wouldn't mind making my 11 year olds night..... So maybe I could borrow them for an evening --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So.....I have been having a tough couple weeks. I hate the frenzy that I get in this time of year, and you add the fact that we had our dog put to sleep and my husband is having a horrid time at work and you will see I'm STRESSED. Today I finally mustered up the enthusiasm to try a few lights outside. Long story short my neighbor steps out and we are chatting. I asked if they have lights and she explains, " no,not yet. We were going for a new look with this laser show, but to many people have it so we aren't doing it"! I asked is it the Star Shower, and she says I think so. I have the box right here. I'm packing it up to return. I grabbed that sucker and ran. (Well not really...I asked if I could buy it off of her and she said of course). After dinner we open the days Christmas Card delivery. I have the box (it's in the original shipping box which she never even opened) setting here waiting for him to open. Someone will be so happy tonight! It's finally feeling magical!! And to those who messaged me options for finding the Star Shower. Thank you for your kindness. Those acts make this time of year really special!

we just started seeing these popping up in our neighborhood- our neighbors next door, across the street, and down the street have them. I hadn't head of them before, actually-- saw a tv commercial for them, but didn't know you could even purchase them in stores. Are they expensive?
They look cool, and my BF actually likes them, but I don't like that they make every house look the same-- the houses in our neighborhood look similar enough already!
I hope you can find them!

I've never heard of them, but they might just be something I have seen but can't name.
I only decorate with white lights outside, and on our tree. My kids get colors in their rooms and upstairs on the little tree. But when I was a kid the colored paint always chipped off the bulbs in winter weather.

Raindancer, they're a laser light / spotlight that you put outside in your yard, and it shines a 'shower' of red or red/green lights onto your house.

I'd love to see what they look like in person.
There was a story on the local news yesterday about how many of these are being stolen out of people's yards. It was also mentioned that a teenager accompanied by his parents was returning the 6 he had stolen from one neighborhood.

They aren't that expensive. They are $39 for one laser. We would be getting 2. The ease of setting 2 stakes in the ground verse doing a whole house and tree's makes life easy. Plus, my home is white. So white, with green and read laser lights gives me the look that I love. Here is what is funny......for them being sold out everywhere and everyone looking for them....we have only seen 1 house with them. It is actually in our neighborhood, but we haven't seen others! I thought they would be overkill as well on everyone's house. So far, that isn't happening!!!

I think the laser only shoots so far. I'm not a rocket scientist so I may be way off. But, the one we have seen in person is bright....but not overkill bright. I thought that it was because the distance of the lasers to the home, and because they have dark brick. I wouldn't think they would cause issues with air travel! ETA..... I was just on the site and it says don't point at open air space or use within a ten mile radious of air craft facilities! That is why I'm not a rocket scientist!!!

I bought the last two in our area yesterday. DH heard about them from a friend and went on a mad online search to find some. Almost every Target in our area was, or was close to being, sold out. The one closest to me didn't have any in stock, but she said another store nearby supposedly had 7 which was odd because ALL of the other stores showed having none in stock. I raced over there and looked on the "As Seen On TV" display--NOT in the Christmas section--empty. Went back to the Christmas section and looked around--nothing. Asked a young guy who looked like he should have been cast in that "Superstore" show (LOL!) if he knew where they were and he said, "Yeah, I couldn't find a place for them on the shelf so I put them in back. I'll go get them for you." Bam--TWO! YES!!!! DH and DD set them up in the yard last night, and I honestly didn't expect them to be all that great. The choice is either all green lights, or a red and green light combination. There are no white or yellow options with the Star Shower. They look okay projected onto the house, but they look FABULOUS projected up onto the trees! So much so that we went back to that same store to see if we could get 1-2 more last night, but no dice. They were sold out by then. Our consensus is that for the house, they would look best in conjunction with some actual lights on the house. We have white lights for the outside of the house that we leave on throughout the winter months and multicolored lights inside the windows that we don't turn on after the holidays are over. You can order them online directly at the As Seen On TV website HERE but you'll have to pay shipping which DH didn't want to do. He also was afraid they wouldn't get here before Christmas. They are/were $39.99 each, so not a fortune but not cheap either. I wouldn't pay more than that from somewhere like Amazon, where they are currently listed for CRAZY amounts of money. My advice if you're looking for somewhere local to get them would be to check at the more unlikely, oddball places that sell As Seen On TV stuff, drugstores like Walgreens or CVS, etc. You might have better luck there than looking for it at busier places like Target or Walmart. Good luck! I hope you find some!

My neighbor has one projected on their pine tree and I'll admit, it looks pretty neat. Plus, there's no way they would have gotten to actually string lights that high on the tree and this thing projects them all the way to the top. If I had a pine tree, I would definitely get one of these.

Our Target says "low stock" and all the local Walgreens are out of stock. Oh, you can buy online with free local pick up at Kmart. I guess they aren't that popular here yet.

I was going to order on line from the company, but I don't think we would get them in time. My husband and son hit 3 stores that online said they had them in stock, but when a clerk checked their "gun" it should sold out at all 3. So much fuss over a laser.
And Amazon I would think could get it to us timely....but, I only saw them for a lot more money. They were in the sixty dollar rage the last time I looked!

I am so curious as to if that is correct with Kmart. Last year I did an order from there that was supposed to be in well before Christmas. It went into the Easter basket! ( I may have my mom run to Kmart.... I won't order but she can pop in)

I haven't seen the star laser, but last year a neighbor had a falling snow laser lighting up their house - a funny sight in southern California.
Good luck finding the one you are looking for.

I had never heard of them, but there is a house on our way home at night that has their whole house covered with lights like this. We couldn't figure out how they were going to be using the garage with all those light strands in front of the doors. Guess I know how now!

FWIW my brother who lives in FL says the Star Shower brand is crap. He did a lot of research and bought a different brand from Amazon when they were on sale. They are supposedly the kind used at 6 Flags and other amusement parks. Not my style but he is thrilled with them.
There is a problem with people stealing them in the area where I live. They had a segment on the news about it. Way too easy to rip off. I hate thieves.

My 4 year old loves these. Our former daycare mom has one shining on her house. We live in the same neighborhood so he sees it every night when we drive by. Last night, he asked if we could get one, too. I looked online to see what they were called. Most of the Targets in our area are sold out, but a few had "limited stock" available.
The reviews are hit and miss. Some are saying that the red/green mix fails after a couple nights and then only the green works. The one we see has been up since Thanksgiving and appears to be doing fine.

I love the Christmas light fads. I distinctly remember being a kid and thinking the lights that chased each other, rather than just blinking, were so damn amazing.

There was a whole display of them at my Walmart earlier this week. I'm going again today- would you like me to check for you?
ETA: I just got back from Walmart and they seem to be all gone now. Who knew they were such a hot item?

There was a story on the local news about two weeks ago and this exact thing happened. Local law enforcement asked the homeowner to change the laser's orientation. Here's the story.

I think they look amazing, but I think pointing them at a house is really going to be the way to go. That's a huge issue for pilots and can seriously damage their eyes too. That's one of those things that wasn't thought through all the way I think, but unfortunately needs to be considered. Lights in the trees, lasers on the house.

Have you looked at the Target dot com website to see if any stores have them in stock? Two of the nearest 5 Targets to me are showing them in stock. I've bought stuff before and picked it up at the nearest Target - it's a good system.

They look pretty cool! I can see theft being one problem but also the fact that we get ass-deep snow here in northern Michigan, so to light up the front of my home, I would have to be constantly shoveling around the base and also shoveling to knock down any snow that would pile up in front of it, interfering with the projection. Good concept for no-snow areas though. I think they'd be cool to use inside, like in my bedroom, year around. But not in green and red. White would work.

My Walmart has a ton of them on display as of tonight. They started showing up last year, but they were the ones that QVC sells.
