I am thinking about baking whole quail for our Christmas dinner. It will only be three of us and I do not want to tackle a turkey for just the three of us. I have always wanted to try quail but would love any suggestions.

Yes I love quail, especially the way it's done at Vietnamese restaurants (spicy salt & pepper). I have never tried cooking it myself, way too fiddly for me.
I'm wondering whether the quails you have are bigger than what I'm used to , because the ones we have here are so tiny they wouldn't even feed one person - I have it as an entree.

DH went quail hunting last weekend and we had fresh quail. The way he does it is to wrap each quail in a slice of bacon (secured with a toothpick) and cooks it on the grill. He cooks for about a total of 10 min. each side, no more than 30 min. total. They are definitely small, so you probably want to figure 2 per person.

I have only had them prepared for me. IMO, quail are too much work for too little meat. Tasty though. LOL!
