Daniel worked at the coffee shop in the Regional Center, but he was much more. The coffee bar was also a training place for those who were clients of the Regional Center- and he was a mentor and instructor. Regional Center Barrista Daniel Kaufman

This probably got lost in the shuffle of the other thread, but I saw an interview on CNN where they talked to his partner and he talked a lot about how cheerful and funny Daniel was. By the end of it, you got a sense that he was a guy that was a real light in the world. I am sorry that light was extinguished.

Thank you for sharing this story of your friend. One of my coworkers said that a friend of hers knew someone who was first reported injured, then they found out he had died. I said "oh, was it Daniel?" and she said yes. It's a small world. It sounds he truly touched so many others, and it was a life well lived.

They talked about him and his life on MSNBC, too. I think of you every time I see him on TV. They're really trying to make the victims come alive for us and I appreciate it.

He sounds like an all round wonderful guy. Teaching people with challenges how to make coffee that can lead to employability is huge. I am sure he had the patience of a saint and was a super cool dude (Renaissance Festival participant). His talents are being used up above and people are loving him there. I am sad for those left behind who loved him here on earth. May his memory be cherished by all who knew him!

I so appreciate you sharing his story. In every one of these horrible situations we need to pause & remember. These are real people who had real lives. We need to pause, remember & celebrate their lives. Thank you for sharing Daniel with us. He left too soon.

He really sounds like he was such a positive person in the lives of his partner and everyone else who knew him. It's an incredible tragedy.
