I bought one on Black Friday and it is still in the box since I keep going back and forth on whether it was an extravagance. I have since bought Minc products to use with it. It adds up even at 50% off. My hubby says to keep it if I will use it. That's the key. Do you have one and use it? It makes a lot lovely things. There are tons of possibilities with the toner paper and toner pen. I have a laser printer already. What are your thoughts on the subject? I'd love to know.

I don't have the Minc but the laminator. I do have the toner pen and some of the Minc products. I found some of the stuff on clearance at Hobby Lobby.
I will say it is not something I use a lot. BUT it is nice to have it when I am working on a special LO or card. It does add something that makes it just right. Like the LO I have to work on for my DD's 21st birthday. I found a font that I liked and used the numbers 2 and 1. Printed them and used a foil in one of the colors that I plan on using for the page. It was the sparkle that was needed.
Oh and I have printed a page with a big black box of toner on it and used dies or my Portrait to cut out a shape and foiled that. Now, THAT just about made it all worth it!

That's the one thing that really intrigued me. Using my Silhouette and cutting my own foiled embellishments. We all spend money on those. I was also thinking the pen could be used to add just a touch of foil to embellishments I have on hand.

So I started out with a laminator, and I have to say that I got really good results with it. For some reason, in a moment of weakness, I bought the Minc - not that I needed it because I was pleased with the results I was getting from my much cheaper laminator. It stayed in the box for about two weeks while I debated whether or not I should keep it. After watching many Youtube videos comparing laminators to the Minc, I unpacked it and have decided to keep it. I don't have a laser printer so I've been printing things at work which takes a little more planning, but I have printed out a ton of things that I know I will use on future projects. I actually have a bunch of digital supplies that I have been printing and foiling with the Minc. In fact I used the foiling technique with my christmas cards this year. I ran off a snowflake background and then used silver foil and used that piece as a background for my shaker card. Turned out great! I do wish that I had the ability to print on a 12x12 piece of cardstock so that I could then run the cardstock through the laminator, but right now that's not going to work... But that's where the pen, which I just ordered the other day, will come in handy. So to answer your question, I think that once you use it a few times, you'll be hooked. It seems that lately everything I work on has to have some type of foil piece added to it!

Yes! I just used mine yesterday to make some tags and poinsettias to use on Christmas packaging. I haven't had mine long but am using it every few days for something either scrapbook or card related. So I agree with streetscrapper - I think once you use it you'll be hooked.

If I had a laser printer already I'd definitely keep it... Just too easy to type up or print out an image and foil it... The ability to make custom things (fonts, sizes, etc), is what I love about it but I have to print it off and get it copied at Staples - if I had a laser printer *swoon...lol
I don't have the Minc - I have a laminator...

I also purchased on Black Friday after thinking it was something I did not need. I got a good deal on the mini, which for me seemed the best bet. My Mom makes cards and we go to a crop sometimes, so I thought it would be something fun for her to use as well.
I played with it for the first time yesterday and really like the results. I see there is probably a bit of a learning curve and learning how to get the most out of it. The toner sheets are a must for using the negative image of foils.
I don't know how long it will last as an it item, but seems like glittery/shiny is always a good idea around the holidays. I like the idea of using it for quotes, so have to play with that a little more.
For $40, I think it was a good deal. I see what you mean about the accessories, but as long as I can use a coupon, I think that makes me feel better about it.
