I saw a news story about these bulbs and how they are more energy efficient, last longer then the halogen bulbs . So, I decided to slowly replace the bulbs as they burned out in the house with LED bulbs. One of the flood lights in the kitchen went out so I got an LED from Hpme Depot ( not cheap, btw!). Holy Crap..that one bulb was brighter tan the other four floodlights combined! It seriously was blinding so I unscrewed it and taking it back later today. It was the "daylight" version of the bulb, but this bulb was so white hot it could melt vampires, geez!

I bought 2 for our living room lamps and I do have to say that they were no brighter than the 150 watt we were using before. We got the 100 watt equivalent and paid a fortune for them. Hopefully they won't burn out light the regular ones do but I was hoping they would be brighter.

Depends where I have them. One of them in a room (fixture) is okay, but six of them in our bathroom fixtures is too much!
We are using a combination of both, depending on the room.

Maybe I should just stick to the halogens for the kitchen because I cant imagine having five of those bulbs burning in one room.

We had two of the motion sensor LED lights put up on the back of our house. We purchased them at Lowe's and then had our electrician install them. He said ours was only the 2nd install of this type of light, and he loves them. He said they really last a long, long time. They are bright too. We have an acre of land, and these two lights light up a HUGE area at night. LOVE them! We haven't tried them inside but as lights go out, I probably will switch over.

I have some. Some are just fine, but the one dh brought home for the family room floor lamp is wickedly bright. I cannot stand for it to be on, as I feel like a spotlight is always in my eyes, no matter where I sit. I am definitely rethinking this particular lightbulb.

We're about half and half currently, replacing with LEDs as we go along. My kitchen has tiny LED recessed spot lights as does my sitting room and I've never had a problem. We do have a dimmer in the sitting room which is good for the evening when I want it a little more restful

The ones I buy have info on the box called "Lighting Facts". There is a "Light Appearance" scale included in this info. If you choose ones more towards the warm side of the scale (e.g. 2700K) than the cool side of scale, the light will appear much less bright. I put the 2700K version in our family room and some that I think were rated 4000K in the kitchen and the difference is significant. It actually took a bit to get used to the brightness in the kitchen but we're fine with it now. It sure makes it easier to see when I am cooking and reading recipes to have the really bright light.

We've got 4 LED can lights in our kitchen, and I LOVE them! They give plenty of light and don't get hot. We also have a regular LED lightbulb in a walkin closet, and it is great in there too. A regular incandescent bulb wasn't enough light, and a CFL made the space have a weird color.

We use all LED in our canned lighting and as soon as I can get our lamps converted over, I am going to.
They are brighter, but it's also a comparison issue. They look even brighter in comparison to the halogen.
We've found that Costco is the best place to buy them from a price standpoint, but they are still expensive. On the other hand, I have a history of blowing out lightbulbs on a regular basis - way more than the normal person, and I've yet to blow out an LED.

We've been buying them at Costco and replacing the CFLs as they burn out. I like them just fine, I'm not noticing a flood light issue. However, I've learned that I'm pretty accepting when it comes to lightbulbs, as CFLs are just fine too.

We just bought a daylight one of our bathroom lights and I love it!! I can't wait to need to replace more lights now! 2 of the 3 in our bedroom ceiling fixture just died, so I am so excited to replace those with the same bulbs. I have a corner desk in our room, and the lighting in that corner isn't very good. I try to use an OTT lite over small work right on my desk, but I'm hoping the LED bulbs will really brighten up even that far corner of my room.

They are so expensive. I would have to have something on the warm end of the spectrum. I am very sensitive to bright light.

We have them in the RV more than in the house. We are slowly replacing the old bulbs with the LEDs as we go in both places though.

We have two in our house. One in my walk in closet and anther by the back door. Dh wanted them everywhere but they were so bright and so white. I find the halogens are too hot. We have some halogens in our track lighting and the rest are regular pot lights. Our outside lights are all LED and they're great. We never turn them off and we've lived here for two years and they still work.

We use LEDs in our bathrooms, and plan to replace the CFLs with LEDs in time, but our CFLs have not burned out yet. We've never had the problems even with CFLs that others seem to have.

It was the "daylight" version of the bulb, but this bulb was so white hot it could melt vampires, geez! What? I didn't specify "Krypton Daylight" on the front? Yeah...I freaking hate LEDs, lol.

We spent the money a couple years ago and switched all the bulbs we could over to LED (there are a few fixtures that they wouldn't work in). We love them. I always worried about CFLs breaking. Our outdoor lights which are on all night are LED and they've been going strong for 3 years now. I've never had one feel hot though, just the opposite, I can touch them after being on a few hours and they aren't hot.

We replaced all of our can lights (around 25) with LED lights. What huge difference! We did put most on dimmers because they can GE bright. I like how white the light is, rather than yellow.

That's what I'm saying!!! I like a nice "daylight" bulb, but this was bordering on "hailing planes to the tarmac" bright. Maybe I need to exchange it for one of the warmer spectrum and see if that is better. It was so starkly white that once I threw the switch, I realized that after 15 yrs of living in this house the grout in the floor tile is not tan, as I thought, it is grey..haha! Oops

I just bought one of the 100watt equivalents for my living room and I love it. The CFL bulbs sometimes strobe for me and this one doesn't.

You are all a bunch of enablers. Good to see that hasn't changed. I hate the light bulbs I have now. I like a bright room! Off to Costco in the morning...

I bought one flood version for the light about my sink. I was so sick of the floruesent one lighting up after I was done at the sink. I love the LED! It's on instantly. I don't feel bad if it gets left on. DH thought I was nuts to pay $10 for a lightbulb but to me that one was worth it. I'm thinking the next time the one in the hall goes, I'm getting another one.
