I agree - 7PM is nothing to get in twist over. The only times it would bug me are like pp's said: before 7AM, after 10PM or if they knew ahead of time that we were having company outside. Other than that, it's all good.

It gets worse -- DH was home from work by 2:30p yesterday. Trash/yard waste pick up was today, so he needed to mow. He was pulling the mower out of the garage and the next door neighbor was just pulling into her driveway. She glared at him "Do you have to do that right now? I was looking forward to using the neighbor's pool and enjoying some peace and quiet." DH just smiled and said "The wife said to mow today. I'm mowing." Then, he sent me a text venting about the neighbor venting about his mid-day mowing and made his own FB status bitching about the bitchy neighbor. A reverse mowing rant! He was done in 20 minutes. More than enough hours left in the day to enjoy the neighbor's pool. Yeesh.

Maybe she should mow their grass for them (for free!). That way she can do it at the "right" time. Not many people have the whole day at their leisure to mow anytime like your friend must have.

7 pm? That's crazy! I just don't find lawn mower noise that irritating. This is me. It doesn't bother me. I'd say 99.9% of the time I wouldn't even notice it. Though, it's hot and I have the house buttoned up with the A/C running. But honestly, even with the windows open it doesn't bother me. I'm more apt to notice the leaf blowers come fall. I say to DH that it's our town song come fall. I feel like it's constant from sun up to sun down.

I sometimes wonder if I'm a horrible neighbor. It doesn't bother me when the neighbors mow their lawns or their kids splash in their swimming pool or play basketball in the driveway. Since these things don't bother me, it has never occurred to me that we might be driving our neighbors crazy when we do this stuff

People mow when it fits into their schedule and all schedules are different. I will say that if any of our neighbors are entertaining outside, we will postpone our mowing for a day if possible. But, in general, it gets done at the time that is convenient for us!

Some folks just don't have any real problems to complain about...

I have a baby, she goes to bed at 7 and I don't care when my neighbors mow their lawn.
Our houses are close together, but we have AC and I just shut the window. I hardly notice the sound. Some people just seem to find it very hard to coexist with other humans.

I have a FB friend who constantly complains about her neighbors mowing their lawn at 7pm. Yesterday she posted two videos - 6:54pm lawnmower [HASH]1, 7:01pm - lawnmower 2. WTF? When is it OK to mow your lawn? Not everyone is retired. It is constant. So glad I am not her neighbor! Ann That is crazy - in my neighborhood, MOST people mow their lawns about that time - in the evening when it has gotten a little cooler. It is not an unreasonable time, IMO. I agree with you - glad I am not her neighbor.

I don't find lawn mower noise annoying at all, but if she were my neighbor and I found out she was bitching about me mowing my yard I'd mow my yard after 7 on purpose. Ha!

Around here, even the lawn services are working until it's almost dark to get ahead of rain or the super hot weather.

She probably would have ripped us a new one. We were mowing out lawn at 10:30 pm. Gotta love the midnight sun!! For the record we don't have any neighbors close to us.

7 pm, no problem, 10 pm I would have a problem with but only because I get up at 5:30 in the morning. Not enough to complain about it though, just vent to my husband about it.
But let's be real, it's dark at 10 pm so no one is mowing their lawn then.
Edited to add; except those people in Alaska and the Northwest Territories !

I don't get it either. It would not be a summer evening if we did not hear lawnmowers running.

That would not bother me at all - the kids screaming and shrieking stuff is still in full floe until after 8, so at least a drone from a lawnmower would help block that out....but, we live in an area where it seems to be either young families or old people and those old people love to mow at about 6.30 on a weekend. I get up at the same time every day and all through the week, we never hear anything. We know who our neighbours are and what they do and, I kid you not, those retirees just can't wait to get up when the working people should be enjoying their well deserved lie in I think that's why the others encourage their children to go out and bounce balls around just about the time those people are trying to eat! It's a little like music - I don't really think it's my place to say anything/get irritated until after a certain time at night (which is way beyond 7)

Sounds like someone has way too much time on their hands. Mowing at 7pm seems perfectly ok to me specially if you live where it is really hot.
