She did better than I would. Her facial expressions are... odd though.
I think dolly did it better.

Never heard her version, but I can't stand her singing voice. I went Other.

screechingly shrill was closest to what I thought. her voice is not my cup of tea at all.

I had never heard either before and I saw Kristen in concert the other day. I preferred Kristen's version, but it could be because it was the first time I ever heard that song.
@blue tulip I put Kristen's version in the first post. It wouldn't let me do it in the body of the poll.
I do agree Kristen's facial expressions can be odd.

I don't like the song to begin with, and even if I did it wouldn't change the fact that the way she is singing just sounds forced and unnatural to my ears (sorry...there is probably a better way to phrase what I'm trying to say, but I can't seem to find the right words)

I like the Dolly Parton version better too.
ETA...I voted other. Not as screechy as I was expecting.

I wouldn't describe it as either! I love Kristen but I didn't like her version of the song. She sang it in too low of a key.
Now the version sung by Dolly, I would definitely say "hauntingly beautiful"

Boring? I listened to the first 30 seconds, skipped to around 2 minutes in and listened to another 30 seconds. Not my thing.

I'm tempted to go with cringingly awful, that's the most deranged 'performance' I've ever seen.

I voted Screechingly shrill even though I didn't listen because to me anything she does is screechingly shrill.

Her face is so little and pinched
I didn't find it screeching at all, though i thought she was trying to do an impression of Dolly's accent.
I didn't much like her until I saw her on the Muppets the other week. She kind of won me over, doing that show!

I voted other. I wouldn't call it hauntingly beautiful. I really love Kristin, and I liked the song and her singing. It's a pretty song. I can imagine a super special performance of the song, but this one wasn't that. Couldn't get the DP version to play.

Honestly, sounds like she's auditioning for "The life and times of Dolly Parton".

I thought she we doing an impersonation or a tribute or something - her vocal affectation and style is very tight in the nose/throat and palate. This to me sounds like she was trying to sing in the style of Dolly Parton. She has a more open and sweet voice than what is presented here and so I think it absolutely is forced and unnatural. Which is why it sounds that way to your ear.

Not as screeching as I was expecting from her. But maybe she thought she really was a sparrow with a broken wing, it was like she was trying to fly and was in pain. Odd performance.

I love Kristin, but her voice is very hit or miss for me. It was way more of a musical theatre performance than vocal performance and very distracting.

I did not like her performance of the song. I have never heard it before, but I didn't like it. Her movements were very stiff, I felt like she was in a lot of back pain.

I love her. And I love her voice.
But I've never heard that song before and I don't like it.
I thought the woman doing back up vocals was very shrill and intensely disliked her voice.

I usually like Kristen but didn't enjoy this performance. It was okay as long as I closed my eyes but watching her was painful. She seemed to be hunched over like an old crone half the time. Not enjoyable to see. Dolly's rendition was lovely.

I don't think I've ever heard that song before, but the first thought that came to mind when listening to Kristen was Dolly Parton.
