I was reading that you want the center of the screen to be at eye-level, therefore a 60-inch television should be installed with the bottom of the screen at 26 inches above the floor. This is from the first link I found when I Googled the question. The article mentioned the average height of a seated person's eye line, and calculated the height of a 60 " tv for the example. Link to articleI'm getting a 55" one delivered and installed Tuesday! Yippee! But that 26 inch recommendation seems low to me. What say you? Any other warnings or advice?

I am probably of no help. My 55 inch is mounted above my fireplace.

The installer placed our 55" tv 42" off the floor as well as about 10-12 feet from the couch. Works fine for me at 5'5" and my 6'1" husband

it depends on how far back your seating is and how big your room is. I have a 20x20 room and mine is above the fireplace. It works because the room is so big. I also have another tv at eye level in another room.

Mine is at eye level for a (short) standing person. We didn't want it to be low enough that a small child could mess with it. We compensated for the height by putting a tilt mount in. We keep it tilted down. Just a few degrees of tilt make a big difference. It also helps to deflect overhead lighting so we have a little less glare.

I also have another tv at eye level in another room. The article does mention the distance from the viewer. In my living room, it would vary from 8-12 feet, I think. I'll measure it tonight. Usually I'm the one watching from the farthest distance, so I could stand it to be higher. ETA: I did choose the arm that has the tilt/turn option.

Our tv is about 5 feet off the groud, above our fireplace and the tile around it.
I am 5'7.5" and dh is 6'.
The tv is about 11 or so feet away from the couch.

I just purchased a 55" tv as well! (by the way, I love it!) Since I rent our current home, it is sitting on a 24" stand that I purchased from Ikea, I didn't want to put any major holes in the wall. When I purchase a home I hope to do something like this: That will put my tv up about another 24" or so. I don't mind the tv on the stand for now, but our family room is large so the sofa is about 10 ft away from the tv. The stand I purchased at Ikea is 72" long, same shape as the pic, but in white with wood doors instead of glass.

My wall mounted 55" tv is in my studio. It's on the far end of a fairly long room (18-20' long maybe?) and over cabinets and a countertop, so it's about 50" off the ground and 14" above the counter. I wanted to be able to still see it over the top of a person's head if someone was sitting at the end of my long work tables. My desk is on the other end of the room from it and I don't have to crane my neck to look at it.
