None of the dogs I've ever had has eaten or drank water if no one is home. I have always just assumed it was so they didn't have to potty before I got home.

My dog doesn't drink if we are gone. Now food? It's gone before we are out the door!

Our dog does not eat unless we are in the kitchen with her. And if I look at her, she will stop eating and look out of the corner of her eye at me until I stop looking at her. Lol. She is odd, but such an incredibly sweet dog. She will not eat or drink unless we are home.

It's clear that your dog is punishing you. You really shouldn't leave, EVER. Yes, this is the right answer I'm sure. She'd be perfectly happy if I took her everywhere, or stayed home with her all the time. lol

That's interesting about being "on duty" and not eating or drinking until the "rest of the pack" comes home. Sounds plausible to me!

My dogs do the same, with food. They wait for Dh to get home even if I put food out. I think because they get on a schedule. But as soon as they hear the garage door open Duke goes for his food.

My dog doesn't eat and I'm almost certain that he doesn't drink either when we are out

Mine don't eat or drink while we are gone. I am convinced they don't drink, because there is no one here to step in the slobbery mess they leave when they're done.

I don't think our dog eats OR drinks when we're gone. We try not to leave her alone for too long...poor thing.

Not sure about drinking, but I have one that won't eat. DH and I were just on vacation and I worried about him not eating for ten days. Apparently he got by on cheese slices.

I'm not sure about the water, but my dogs definitely don't eat much (if at all) when we're away.

My dog doesn't eat when I go away, but she does drink. I actually have to have my husband distract her when I bring scrapbooking stuff out to the car cause she thinks I am leaving (yeah probably more bags than when I am actually going on a trip LOL)

Is she drinking out of the toilet bowl? We had a dog that did this.

Nice stories! I still miss my two quite a lot (both passed in 2006) and I love being reminded of the quirks they had. The guard the nest thing applied to my daxie, and the drink until he threw up thing to the bulldog. Weirdos they were.

I can give my rat terrier a rawhide bone when I leave and she won't touch it until I get back. Not sure if she drinks water during the day. I know that when I feed her she eats that right away!
