So antique "malls"--stores made up of booths stocked by various people with antiques, handmade a, recycled, up cycled, vintage, crafts, etc-- are very prolific in Texas and Tennessee. I was just wondering if these are all over? Do you shop them?

I live very close to a place with a lot of separate antique stores, but it's a tourist town so everything is really expensive. I like some of that stuff but generally can't afford the things I want.

My husband and I will occasionally visit antique malls while traveling. There are several that we know of within 100 miles of us here in Pennsylvania.
They usually don't have very many customers, and I used to wonder how anybody made money there, but we have since found out that many of them are also selling on ebay. I would imagine that's how they do most of their sales.

Around here, there is a difference between a flea market and an antique mall.
An antique mall is an indoor facility with individual permanent booths of, well, antiques. Nothing but antiques.
A flea market is almost always outside, although there are a few permanent indoor ones. However, the indoor flea markets hardly ever have antiques. They sell off brand detergent, socks, ethnic clothing, outdoor decorative items (like rusty metal spinning wheely things), homemade spice mixes, etc. There are very few flea markets here that feature antiques -- in fact, now that I think about it, there is only one flea market (outdoor, 4 times a year at a county fairground) that features antiques around here. That particular flea market is 99% antiques. In addition to antiques, they have a few craft sellers, farmer's market booths, and food trucks. But it's really an outdoor antiques sale and is so fabulous, it is a must-do for us. Last time, we went we finally got the 1950s-50s chrome edge formica top dining set I've been searching for...over 2 decades and at a great price.
And as you can probably tell, yes, I do shop at antique malls. There is an absolutely huge antique mall within a short drive from our house and it's often quite crowded even on weekdays. The smaller antique malls seem to do very well around here too. I collect vintage glass and luckily for me, it's very plentiful and therefore fairly cheap around here. I've gotten items for $2, that I've seen go for $80 on ebay and Ruby Lane.

I worked at one for 8 years. It was the largest one in CA. Before the Internet and EBay it was quite a lucrative business.

Yes, on occasion. I really enjoy them. My experience is that they are more clean and organized than a flea market.
Whereas a flea market has boxes and piles of things to rummage through, the antique mall booths have things displayed for easy viewing.

my husband and I used to sell at antique malls. There's several in our area we like to visit. I've found some really awesome deals there. I'm interested in vintage/antiques so any that has a lot of stuff that's more "flea market" gets marked off and I wont' go back.

I love them. We had one in our Alabama town when we first moved here but it went out of business. Now another one has opened in a different location and just this week someone has opened a new one in the original location. I'm an English stained glass window collector so that's what I'm mainly looking for when I visit an antique mall.

We have some really nice antique stores here, different from flea markets. We recently bought a roll top desk and a curio cabinet, both from the 40's. I love them!

We have several here, and we also have a flea market - which doesn't really have the same stuff. I have a good friend who with his mother has booths in several antique malls. It's a great place to shop if you are open to what can be found, instead of looking for something specific. However, if you are looking for something special, or something that you collect, the dealers usually will go above and beyond to help.

I used to love browsing in antique stores. I often found items I remember my grandmother owning. Then I started noticing things my mother owned. I quit going when I realized I was seeing items that *I* owned. Meaning I am and antique that owns antiques. I am now trying my best to rid myself of all of these so called "antiques" - aka junk. sigh. It was fun while it lasted.

Shopping/exploring antique/collectible stores is a hobby that my husband and I enjoy. We explore the local ones and ones we find when on vacation.
We got a beautiful antique/vintage oak table to use as a printer stand earlier this year. My favorite find was a vintage woode lobster trap- found at HUGE anitque mall in Ft. Worth.

I buy and sell vintage/antiques so yes I do. In fact, I've kicked around the idea of getting a booth in the one I like. And here in Denver, antique malls and flea markets are completely different things and follow the descriptions mallie posted above. There are also vintage markets a few times a year here; those are usually outdoors in the warmer months but I'm selling at an indoor one in January.

I do occasionally... I would rather shop at an outdoor flea market, but there aren't nearly as many of those here in Phoenix as there used to be when I lived in the Chicago suburbs.
I like the feel of a flea market better, for some reason, and I guess I would think I might find better deals at a flea market or estate sale, but I have found some really nice well-priced things at antique malls, too.
ETA: to be clear, I mean flea market in the sense of outdoor booths with vintage / antiques / collectibles. The 'tube socks, sunglasses, tee-shirt' type of selling event is called a 'swap meet' here.
