I am having the best (and most stressful) week I have had in a long time. We went camping last Thursday with our annual family camp for our church. On Saturday, my sister-in-law showed up to spend the day and brought some sausage from a local butcher that we all love. She sent my oldest son's girlfriend (the son who is stationed in Washington D.C. and whom I haven't seen since February) to get the cooler out of the back of her car and my son popped out from under a blanket! He had flown in that morning to surprise his girlfriend and mom. I couldn't believe my eyes! It seems everyone knew except for his girlfriend and myself. What a surprise!
Of course, he wasn't done with the surprises either. A few hours after things sort of calmed down, he got up...dropped to his knee and proposed to his girlfriend!!
So now we are all in a whirlwind of activity. I am throwing a last minute engagement party for them before he has to go back to Washington and the bride to be is in heaven making wedding plans.
He goes back to Washington on the 31st. I'm going to miss him like crazy but I am enjoying having my boy home. And I am so excited for the upcoming wedding, his bride to be is a wonderful girl and he is lucky to have her!
Here is a photo collage that a friend of ours put together for us. Thanks for letting me share my excitement...and I apologize now for the barrage of wedding questions that I am certain I will have!
Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in and say thank you all for the congrats and well wishes! It has been a whirlwind week here and I haven't really been near my computer to come back to this thread.
The kids have set a date (provided he can get leave) and have been running all over making plans. They are very excited. There has already been some wedding drama...fun stuff! ( I really wish that non-family would not announce people's plans on facebook. grrrr.) But so far so good!
I took a few engagement snapshots and thought I'd share them with you. They are trying to save as much money as they can, so my not professional images will have to do. Thanks again!
Here is a pic from our little "shoot":
And here is a link to the album if you want to look at the rest of them:
