My DH loves White Castle. Just to double check...you brown the burger like you would for chili? Stupid question I know.

Lay the bottom buns in baking pan, spread the browned beef mixture then put on the top buns. Squash them down nice and good and be sure you get the small buns, I found them at Kroger.

Thanks Linda~Lou! I wasn't sure if you meant to mix everything then form into patties and brown, or to crumble the meat and brown. KWIM? Anyway, can't wait to try these.

Question for ya. Since these have so much cheese, I assume these are like White Castle cheeseburgers? I don't like cheese on mine but don't know if you could omit the cheese in this recipe?

I have never had White Castle burgers. Not a Canadian thing.
They sound good and I will give them a try one night this week.

You can certainly omit the slice on top. As for the shredded cheese? That acts as a binding agent along with the mayo otherwise it would be too crumbly. Not sure what you could add instead of cheese. Honestly as long as you don't add the slice on top they don't taste like cheeseburgers. Do you like pickles? Some people add pickle relish to mixture.

Sorry, I forgot to get back with my taste test results. They were very tasty. Never having had a WC I can't compare.
I did have to make one change, I used small hamburger buns. Would you believe there was not one package of dinner rolls at my grocery store.

Would you believe there was not one package of dinner rolls at my grocery store. I just saw this post. So glad you liked them. Yeah, those small buns are hard to find. I'm sure yours were just as good. I don't think I'll ever make a regular hamburger again. These are so much easier. You could probably create all sorts of different ingredients to add to the ground beef.

I don't do pickles, but if I did, I'd probably do it after. I don't know. My friend makes them and mixed in pickle relish with the burger mixture. Maybe that would work.

Made these last night linda~lou and DH and DS loved them! We've never had White Castle burgers but these were very tasty. I layered sliced dill pickle rounds under the cheese (processed for me, cheddar for my guys.) TFS!

Had these for dinner last night and they were very tasty! We don't have a WC in Canada, but I've seen them on tv and always thought they looked yummy! We also don't get Hawaiian rolls here, so I just bought the small dinner rolls that come in 2 stacks of 12 that we get here. Will definitely have them again.
P.s.. I chopped up my sandwich dills so they would be easier to eat ( in case the whole slice came off with a bite)

Another Canadian here, so have not ever had a White Castle burger, but this recipe looks delicious! I will try it out next time the gang comes over.

I very rarely come to recipe board. I'll attach a pic I had on my phone. The receipt is a little hard to read, let me know if you have questions. I think if you click on the pic, you can enlarge it. I actually just bought all the ingredients to make them after seeing your post. They are sooooo good.
