I've never had "the real deal" so I'm in no position to judge, but your burger recipe sounds wonderful and I plan to try it.

I will have to try it. White Castle is a lot like Krystal. I grew up with Krystal, but lived further north for 8 years and had a White Castle not far from the house. Your recipe sounds good.

You guys will have to let me know. My son and grand kids live in Arizona. I have to bring them Whiteys when I come. I was just there in May. We made the recipe and we still had a few originals left (they tend to get eaten before I'm even in the door) anyway we were able to have a side by side taste test. Of course the Whiteys won, but boy the homemade ones came in a real close second!

I can't believe they have cheddar cheese in them. I want to try them, but I don't like cheese on my WC. I am definitely going to get what I need to try these very soon!

I think the cheese and mayo are what helps hold the loose hamburger together once it is baked, so it makes meat more solid instead of crumbly. You really can't taste the cheese, it's weird.

I'm intrigued by this recipe. I've never been to White Castle - they aren't in my area. Your last post said the meat kind of is bound together by the cheese and stuff? Otherwise I'm picturing little crumbles of hamburger like Taco Meat falling out of the buns? Is that really how the WC burgers are?

No that's not how originals are. They are very thin pattys of meat. We call them gut burgers! I have no idea what they put in them. Not sure I want to know. In this recipe, the meat isn't like Taco Bell, but I know what you mean. The cheese and mayo does hold meat together, I wouldn't describe it as a real hamburger patty though. It's just a different take on a burger. If you've never had WC, you've got nothing to compare to. These things are just really really good!!!!

There's nothing like an original Krystal burger. Just sayin'

I was wondering if the cheese was a binding agent, more or less. I really do want to try them. We love WC. I don't find Krystal comparable at all, the couple of times I had them. I think a lot of times, whatever you have first can never be compared to. LOL. just like with Krispy Kreme and other donuts. Sometimes we have other attachments than taste, too.
I will try to remember to follow up on here after I make them! Thanks for the recipe!

So, does anyone know. Are White Castle and Krystal sorta like the same company? Like Rally's and Checkers?

Interesting! I've never had WC, but growing up in Orlando we had a Krystal a few miles from my house. I remember Krystals being more of a thin patty. If I were going to make Krystal burgers, I'd use Steak-um patties and put them on a small bun.

Agree these don't look like whiteys. I probably put on more beef mixture than you're supposed, they certainly are thicker! . It's just they have the same flavor.
