Update 12 - 21: Gift idea #7 is up and more to come!
Update 12-17: Gift idea #6 is up below in the comments
Update 12-15: I'm going to stop posting the ideas on the OP to minimize scrolling because it's getting so long. So after gift idea #5 they will only be posted in the comments. But they will be easy to find due to the length and hopefully soon the photos I will be posting.
Happy New Moon!
I will be sharing a gift idea everyday for the next 11 days.
So here is today's gift idea:
Pockets Full of Presence Calendar
A calendar to keep photos and notes in for that month.
Once the month is up the cards go in an envelope and a whole month of new cards go in.
Then they can be brought back out and filled in again the next year for reminiscing each month.
The easiest way to keep them in order is putting the dates on the back of the cards.
As a gift you can create the pocket cards with special dates, fun quotes or anything else to personalize their calendar with and they can enjoy filling it up with them every beginning of the month.
They can help to be starter cards till they have a whole year of new memories to pocket.
For presentation you can fill it up with the cards for that month.
( example: if it's a Christmas present you can fill in the cards for January ).
I'm making one for my kitchen and one as a gift.
The supplies I'm using to make them are as follows:
- 6 pocket pages
( I'm using We R Memory Keepers
8 photo pockets per sleeve
4- 6x4 inch and 4- 3x4 inch )
- A couple packs of index cards
( 365 cards to complete a whole calendar year + 12 cards for the months )
( I'm using 4x6 cards unruled so I can just cut some in half to fit the 3x4 photo pockets )
- some transparent sheets
( optional for note taking in front of a photo )
- ribbon or binder rings
( to bind the sleeves together )
- 12 envelopes ( 1 for each month )
- 1 large sleeve to keep the envelopes in. ( I'm using the We R Memory Keepers 12x12 sleeve )
- supplies to decorate the cards with
( journaling pens, stickers, photos...etc )
And here are some of the base dates in 2016 I'm filling out on the cards to help me get started on the gift one:
January - New Years resolutions, Martin Luther King Day,
Chinese New Year
February - Groundhog Day, Presidents Day, Valentines Day
March - St Patricks Day, Easter
April - April Fools Day, Thomas Jefferson's Birthday
May - National Scrapbook Day, Cinco De Mayo, Mothers Day, Memorial Day
June - School's Out, Fathers Day, Summer Solstice
July - Independence Day, Day out of time
August - Back to School ( for me )
September - Labor Day
October - Columbus Day, Halloween
November - Veterans Day, Thanksgiving
December - Christmas Eve, Christmas
Then there's the birthdays, anniversaries, new moon/full moon,
and personalized days I'm making and surprises as well to keep it exciting.
I'm writing the day of the week and month on each card so the order in which they get pocketed will be easy to keep track of and therefore can be used just like any other calendar.
I hope this gift idea inspired you to make one for yourself and/or others.
I would love to see how they turn out!
Feel free to express any questions or ideas in the comments.
Enjoy the new moon!
ETA: unless you use pocket sleeves that are all the same size, writing the day of the week on the cards may not work after the year is up since they change what day of the month it is every year. So I'm making them separate.
It's gift idea #2,
So here is today's gift idea:
Astro Journals
Journals with personalized guided entry starters that coordinate with influences in the journaler's astrology chart.
Supplies I'm using:
- 9x6 sketch dairy
- scrapbooking supplies ( patterned papers, embellishments, pens, inks )
- photos
- adhesive
- scissors
- astrology chart
Entry starters can be in first, second or third person.
And these are the sections I'm using in a journal from looking at one's astrology chart as a whole, you might find inspiration from.

Gift idea #3 - A framed photo in a Book
It's kind of like a photo book only it's for one photo.
And more geared towards younger kids to make, but it can be a gift made by any one.
My cousin had a book like this personalized with a photo of her in the back and it was the coolest thing.
Supplies:
- a blank sketchbook or pages for the book ( spiraled may work best )
- a cover for the book if you are binding your own pages ( chipboard for instance )
- jump rings or something to put the book together like Bind-it-all ( and a strong hole punch like a Crop-o-dile ) if you are binding your own pages
- materials to decorate your pages like scrapbooking paper, embellishments, adhesive, art supplies ...etc
- the photo you are using
- tracing paper or a scanner
- xacto blade and cutting mat/pad
What you do is take or find a photo of the person the gift is for, and maybe you in it as well or anyone else you want in the book.
( like if your kids are making it for their grandparents then maybe all of them in the photo )
And either scan it so you have a paper copy, then
cut out the heads in the photo.
( If no scanner then just take a copy of the photo
and put a paper over it and trace the heads then cut them out. )
Take the "now made stencil" and center it over a page of your book
and with a pencil lightly trace the stencil heads on it.
Then cut out the heads on the page you traced on (but in the middle only, so no cutting is done from the side )
Then do the same thing on the other pages ( so they line up with the others ) and cut them out.
( you will notice each page is a new stencil to use for the next page )
Erase all the pencil marks if there are any.
All the other extra pages can be torn out and put with the art supplies.
Once you have a good amount of pages with the
head holes in them have the kid/s and/or you draw scenes
on them that make them think of the person, or maybe places they have been with them or places they want to go with them...etc
They can even write a story too...options are endless.
Once all the pages are finished, put the photo
on the last page so it lines up with all the head holes, bind it and find a cover for it ( unless that has already been done for you) and decorate the cover and maybe put a title on it.
If you make one I would love to see it!
Gift idea #4: Paper BoardGames and Cardgames
There are many games you can make and play on paper, traditional or made up.
My favorite game has always been this one: www.ravensburger.com/uk/games/family-games/labyrinth/index.html
So I'm making a golf themed one for SO.
I'm using cardstock, a thicker piece of transfer sheet (but chipboard can work too) ,patterned paper and embellishments for the game pieces and cards.
Many card games can be created with the pack of index cards cut in half.
Traditional games can be personalized. For instance:
Bingo can be made of words, pictures, photos instead of numbers and letters.
Or you can even turn the games you already have into more games.
For instance: Guess Who can be played with cards from Old Maid
I find that if I have a game title for my foundation and a theme to build it on, I can personalize many traditional games as a gift.
So feel free to post below and game and theme to see what kind of game I would create for you as a gift

Gift Idea #5 - Personalized Keychain Names
Supplies:
- window keychains
- photos of the names
Because photo lettering sites have expanded I'm not sure which site I first saw this idea in.
They do customize words with photography of different objects that look like letters. Then they frame them for the wall.
So I was thinking of anything else that would be handy to have your name on. And the idea of the keychain came to mind and resonated with the heart.
So I made them one year as gifts for everyone.
For example: my SIL Mandi I used a cooking / baking / food theme cause she loves to cook. I used her favorite m&m as the "M" ( pretzel) I used 2. I crunched one up for background accent and focused on an M on the other piece of candy.
Unfortunately I didn't have the best camera and the quality of the photos turned out so blury that you couldn't even see the letters.
( I tried to take a picture of them all together on the computer then print out that photo and that's when I learned that taking a photo of a photo minimizes the sharpness ( I know there's a photography term for that ... something like resolution I think it is. )
The idea I had for the next time I try this is take a picture of the whole scene I'm using and turn it black and white and color in just the part of the letter that's formed.
If anyone adopts this idea I would love to see the finished result.
You can post below a name and theme if you want photo ideas.
