So, my new husband thinks we need a Honeybaked Ham for Christmas dinner. I'm fine with getting one, but is it really worth $4 more a lb. The hams at the market are around $3 a lb. and Honeybaked are $7.29 a lb. Make me feel better about spending twice as much.

IMO, it's the only choice!

Eh. Make a brown sugar glaze if you like sweet ham. But I am not a fan.

Agree with NanaKate...we got the supermarket one a few years ago and will never do that again. MUST be a HBH!

Yes. A thousand times, yes. Once you try one, every other sliced ham will seem "meh" by comparison.

We think so. We tried grocery store hams, including a fancy one from Niman Ranch which is our local big organic meat supplier hereabouts. Nothing else made us nearly as happy. So we're back to spending too much for HoneyBaked. Just a couple of times a year! Hope that helps.

They are good, but if dh did not get a $50 gift card from work every December, we likely would not get one. I can get a very good spiral ham from our local grocery store that doesn't have the glaze on it already, so we can choose whether or not to use it. We usually use the gift card for Easter and have the grocery store ham, which is another good, local brand (Dearborn for those of you in my area) for Christmas because I usually earn a free one with loyalty rewards.

So maybe my thing is I just don't care for presliced ham.

We personally do not like them. Way too salty for us.

We do not like pre-sliced ham. However, if we were given a $50 gift certificate we would certainly eat it!

They are good. But we (my bank account and me) prefer the spiral ham from Costco.

I find them kind of unreliable. I've had some that are just divine, and others that are too salty. I'm thinking it might be related to buying them at different HB stores, but I don't get them often enough to say that as an absolute. I do know that the last 2 times I got them, they were way too salty, so I get the one at our grocery store that is *almost* as good as a good HB, but definitely better than a salty HB.

It's a tradition in my family. I love having a big fat sandwich with the leftovers. I think it's worth it, but then I'm not usually the one buying it

It's good...but not worth the cost. My ham is just as good.

I wish I could remember the brand but it is from Walmart and wrapped in purple foil...it was every bit as good as honeybaked if not better.

I love it. Our dept head brings in one every year for our office holiday party (which we had today!) and it's the best.
However we never have them at home as my dh prefers his ham totally plain no hickory smoked/glazed etc.

They're very good, but for Thanksgiving I bought a Wegmans dinner ham and it was every bit as good for a third the price!

Yes.
I'm expecting one to arrive on my doorstep any minute now. It's a gift from Dh's company.
It will be a very tasty weekend. The crust is like crack.

We used to get them every year. Then a couple of years ago the quality became uneven, good one time, not so good the next. Now I just purchase one at Costco or the grocery store. I think they must be becoming less popular in my area as they have closed the stores closest to me.

No, we don't think so. We like the one from Aldi's. We've been buying them there for about 5 years and never had a bad one. DH slices it and then we put it in the crockpot with a really good apple juice, clove, brown sugar homemade glaze. So yummy!!

Honey Baked Ham was my first job when I was in hs and from what I remember, it's worth the extra. That was a very long time ago though. Back then it was just under $4 a pound.

I have gotten Sam's spiral hams before and they are pretty good. Ever Christmas Eve I serve the honey pork roast. Melts in your mouth!

It's the only ham we will eat. We've tried the Costco and Sams Club hams, and both were too heavy with clove flavor for us. We also tried a Smithfield ham, and it was just okay. That said, the HB ham we got for Thanksgiving was a bit more dry and fatty than usual. If the quality of the next ham we get isn't better, we will be looking for another alternative.

Both of the ones they closed here had the cafe. I miss it because it was a great spot to grab lunch when I was shopping in that area.
