It arrived today, all is well! I don't understand how the post office works. I know this is a stupid question but I don't remember this happening to me before. USPS tracking says the package was delivered yesterday but it is nowhere to be seen (I checked all around the house, but our mailpeople are good about bringing packages to the door.) What do I do now? This is a semi-expensive Christmas present for my husband. I don't think we have a theft problem--we've gotten lots of boxes the past few weeks and everything has come with no problem. Urgh.

When I had a package missing I emailed them (in the end it was one of those they tell you they have delivered it but do it the next day - that doesn't apply here) . Maybe call them in the morning or try to catch them as they make their rounds and ask them.

Do you have some place outside they could have thought was a safe place to put it? My sister's friend couldn't find a package that UPS said they delivered last Christmas. In late spring they uncovered their boat to take it out on the lake and found the package sitting in it. The UPS put it in there but never left any info on where they had put it.

I checked around the porch and such, but they always bring packages that are too big for the mailbox up to the front door and leave them. I'm not sure if this would have fit in the mailbox or not. Maybe I'll try to catch the mailperson tomorrow and give them the tracking number and see what they remember.

Mystie, totaly off topic but I just noticed that you are from NewPort News. I have a granddaughter going to college at Christopher Newport and one that graduated from there two years ago. Such a beautiful campus and such a great school.

I just had this happen with FedEx yesterday. DD was home sick from school so we were here all day and I knew nobody had come at the time it said it had been delivered. I did get other stuff throughout the day and my dogs went crazy each time so I was positive they didn't really come here when they said. First thing this morning, I called and they were able to tell me that it had been delivered to the wrong address (an apartment), and then taken back by the driver to a FedEx facility. A few hours later, they delivered it here. I would definitely call and hopefully they can help you figure out what happened!

Such a beautiful campus and such a great school. Oh, cool! Yes, it seems to be a really nice school...I don't know anyone personally who attends, but I drive through there all the time. The campus has made huge strides since we moved down here 13 years ago--so many gorgeous new buildings and just a whole new vibe. It's really enhanced the neighborhood, too.

Something like this happened to me with FedEx. They showed it as delivered, but I didn't get it. Two days later it was delivered by USPS.

I have seen many mix ups with delivery notices this season so I would think it was shown as delivered but hasn't been yet. That has happened to me on at least 3 items.

It may have been delivered to a neighbor. I had DHL try to misdeliver a package to us yesterday. He would have just left it but I happened to be outside and let him know he was at the wrong house.

I've had a couple different things happen last year. It showed delivered, but we didn't get it for a day or 2 later.
Also, one was delivered ---- to our neighbor across the street and a couple houses down from us. Fortunately he brought it over the next day.
I hope you get it soon.

I had the same issue a few months ago. Unfortunately the package never turned up, but the seller sent me a replacement.

Oh, isn't that the most frustrating thing! I had a UPS package that was delivered to the wrong house once miles from me. there was nothing at all similar about our addresses except the city.
Hope you find your package!

It may actually be delivered today. I've had a few times where they scan it as delivered to finish their route and then just drop it the next day. It happens to the gals on my team often.

The one package that I had delivered by USPS that said it was delivered, but was nowhere to be found, was delivered to the home of a neighbor whose Address is not close to mine in location or number. Thankfully, she took the time to Google my phone number, called me to tell me she had it and had accidentally opened it, and dropped it off the next day.

Thankfully, she took the time to Google my phone number, called me to tell me she had it and had accidentally opened it, and dropped it off the next day. I had a package delivered to my porch that was to someone in another neighborhood. I don't think it was even the same zip code. I googled his name, called and asked if he was the individual at ______ address, and he confirmed it. At that point, I told him about the package being misdelivered to my home, gave him my address, and he came to pick it up. We lived about 5 to 10 minutes apart, and he got it faster than if I had contacted the delivery company. I did suggest, however, that he file a complaint about the delivery to the wrong house & wrong neighborhood. Our addresses were absolutely nothing alike. I can't help wondering how they can make such a huge mistake. Illiterate drivers who are faking it? Another time I had a postal worker show up at my door asking if we had gotten a package by mistake. Um, no, we hadn't. The person was actually going door to door trying to figure out where the package had been left. Our neighborhood is small, but there are still 500 homes in it. Was she going to all of them trying to find it?

Carriers mark the boxes when they load their trucks and sometimes don't double check the address when they are dropping off. If they mark the wrong box they will deliver by what they marked and not by the address actually on the box. They are running the same route at least twice and often a part of someone else's route they aren't aren't as familiar with in one day. (My husband is a city carrier and I asked him how could that happen) He said there are also carriers who are more interested in finishing and getting home than they are in being accurate.
