I think I say them all. Bob wrecked his new car. Bob was in an accident. Bob crashed into a power pole. ETA: It's best not to ride with Bob! (sorry I couldn't resist) This is what I do also. And GiantsFan that cracked me up! Don't ride with Bob.

I mostly say accident or crash.
One of the people on our local news says smashup for example "There was a smashup on the interstate last night" I really hate when he says that I mean seriously who say smashup.

I say crash-wreck implies the car was destroyed-which is not always the case in an accident

When my nephew's car caught on fire on the freeway and he had to pull over and jump out we called it a carbcue. I say accident. Tomato/Tomahto. Does saying, "accident" get me thrown out of this thread? Oh, and one more thing: Please tell us that no one in your life had an accident. I say accident, too.

I think I use "accident" most frequently, but of your two choices, I definitely use "crash" more than wreck. I tend to use the word "wreck" to describe something else gone wrong....cooking, a project, my house, my day, or heck, just me!
