Don't get a manual. You won't use it. Too much work. Get a basic model that is wide enough to be comfortable to use. I found one Craig's list for 150. Wait a few weeks until after the new year or closer to the end of January. There will be a bunch for sale then. Right now people want them because of the resolve to get in shape. In two to three weeks they will be looking to sell it. That's how I got mine. It's a spectacular Proform, gym quality. Lady just wanted it gone. I love it.

I love our treadmill. I bought it second hand several years ago and have gotten a lot of use from it. To motive myself to use it, I start watching a television series and ONLY watch episodes while I walk. I know I've tried a manual treadmill somewhere and there is really no comparison to powered ones. Day and night. I only watch my shows on the treadmill as well. It is a good motivation.
For me, I don't have the option of walking long-distance outside for now. I had foot surgery a couple of months ago, and a knee that is giving me issues. The possibility of getting stranded far from home is very real, because when my foot or knee decide I'm done, I'm DONE. Hopefully by the end of 2016, I will be back to walking outdoors. Right now I'm just happy to get back onto my treadmill after thinking I was going to have to give it up forever.
Hope you find a good one, OP!
Yes, pick a series that you vow to only watch when on the treadmill. It's what get me back in the saddle every day. I want to know what happens next. For most treadmills, you can just push start and then start walking. There's a button to increase the incline or the speed. That's a good place to start if the programmed workouts intimidate you. And after all all the discussion, I'd honestly recommend an elliptical. I find it to be easier on my joints and I stay more upright when I increase the difficulty. But then, I don't enjoy running. I find it really hard on my back. It folds in two, but does take up a fair bit of space. I think I bought it at Sam's Club. If space and cost are big issues for you, I would encourage you to try to gym across the road. You will get a good deal this time of year and you can try out the different equipment and decide if it's for you. If you have never used a treadmill, you will instantly see why we are saying the models you liked aren't sturdy enough.

We had a really nice one and dh wore it out. I don't remember the brand, but it was the same brand as gyms use. My suggestion is that if you really want to get a treadmill, get one that is gym quality or you won't like/use it.

Just went and looked at the models you linked. Mine was able to be stored pretty flat on the ground, you collapsed it and rolled it where you wanted. Those look bulkier. That's the kind I originally wanted. I have yet to spot any yet. But I haven't looked around all that much either.
