If you had to choose just one to add to your scrap arsenal to start out with, would it be the Fuse or an embossing tool? I have neither and I feel like I'd have use for both - especially as I work up the energy to start my DD. I feel like the Fuse would get more use but I also feel like I could emboss a lot of crap, too.
TIA.

What kind of embossing tool? Do you mean a heat gun for stamped embossing or a Cuttlebug/Big Shot/Evolution/Vagabond/etc.? If you're a scrapbooker, then the Fuse would probably get more use. I just ordered one from that company because I got it for less than I could get it locally with a coupon. I hope to use it for shaker cards and maybe modifying pocket pages if I ever get back to scrapbooking. If you're a cardmaker, then I think an embossing tool would get more use. But then, that could be start of a die and embossing folder addiction and I don't know if you want to go down that path.

Oh, yes, I should clarify. A heat embossing tool. For stamping and all that jazz.
I'm strongly leaning towards the fuse but I can't get it from THAT company. LOL. Amazon will be where I get it from and it'll be here in 2 days.

I need to dig my embossing stuff out when I start my DD work! I like the Fuse...I have a ton of 12x12 page protectors and have been cutting them down and fusing them to use in 9x12. I haven't done anything too 'fancy' with it yet though. I'll probably use both more on my DD (which I haven't started yet). Sorry, this was no help

The fuse would get my vote for pocket page use alone. But I stumbled upon the whole FUSEables line this weekend by mistake.... That ribbon trim is calling my name!

I own the Fuse, but haven't gotten it out of the box yet. I just used my embossing gun a little while ago to make a card for my chemo buddy who just graduated from the Chemo Angels program! YAY! I am planning on going on a craft retreat in January, and I plan on bringing my Fuse with me to experiment with. There is no learning curve with the embossing gun, although I'm sure it's not rocket science to use the Fuse either. And I'm totally ignoring AmandaA's post! HA HA

I'd get the tool with the effect that can't be achieved in another manner -- the embossing heat gun. Really nothing else let's one emboss than the heat gun -- one can create a pocket or a shaker card in other many other manners.

If you're into stamping and card making, then I vote heat gun. If you're more of a scrapper, especially if you do PL, then I say Fuse.

I bought a Fuse a few months ago and sadly have yet to take it out of the box! My heat gun gets used all the time.

I agree that it depends on what you do more. The fuse absolutely for scrapbooking the heat tool for card making. The fuse is a whole lot of fun!

You can get the Fuse at Hobby Lobby with a coupon. It's the white Project Life one and I think they run $29.99 before the coupon. An option if you want a good deal without having to order from THAT place

OOORRRRR, you can get the Martha Stewart Heat Tool, which is the same thing as the Fuse. Except it doesn't have the sewing tip. BUT here is what I did last weekend. I have the MS heat tool and found out last weekend that there are replacement and 2 new little tips for the Fuse that are sold at Scrapbook.com. They were on sale last week so I grabbed it. They came in on the 23rd so I haven't had time to play yet but they do appear to be able to be used in my MS tool. Here is a link the the MS tool. I think I got mine at WM and only paid about $16, $17 for it. Here is it at Amazon and Prime. You can look around and see if it can be found a bit cheaper. And the replacement/new tips And they are still on sale. I am slow and not really sure who "THAT" company is but if it is the company that makes the FUSE then you don't have to support them too much with the purchases like I did.

I have both and I couldn't get by with out my heat tool. I've had it for a long time and I love the look of embossing. I'm still new to the Fuse, but I made shaker cards before I had it. So my vote is for heat tool. If you have a Michael's near by, I can email you a 50% off coupon (good thru 1/2/16) and you could get both. Just sayin'

Really nothing else let's one emboss than the heat gun -- one can create a pocket or a shaker card in other many other manners. I saw the cutest tags made with the Fuse. They put sparkles and glitter in the tags and sealed them up. I bought some stuff to make tags for next Christmas. I also saw bookmarks and backpack tags using the Fuse. In my head, I can buy embossed papers, so the Fuse would be better. I guess it just depends which you would use the most. Go on YouTube and see if one strikes your fancy.

I would go with the embossing gun!
You can achieve the same look as the fuse if you can sew.

I am slow too and beyond curious who "THAT" company is. Girls- you have to give a hint like an acronym or something. I have both the Fuse & a heat embossing tool. I am using both equally. I think right now I am using the Fuse more because it's my new play toy. Heat Embossing tool if you love to stamp and emboss. You need a heat tool if you do a lot of mixed media. Fuse if your into Planners, Project Life, Pocket Letters. If you live close to a good big box craft store you can get your embossing tool with a coupon. I haven't seen the Fuse at any of the Big Box craft stores. Michael's & Hobby Lobby both have the Becky Higgins tool. It's from American Crafts just like the WRMK one. I don't really think there is much of a difference. If you have an accomplice you can take them to the big box store with you and get the Becky Higgens tool & a heat embossing tool using two coupons. Two for the price of one.

Well, I'm no help, but I think you should get both. They do completely different things, and you need to do it all, right? This is our passion – experience it to the fullest! alissa103, I'm not positive who you were referring to either, but I consider Hobby Lobby "that" place .

THAT company is a subscription company that has an online store. There's a thread with, like, a million pages about it. I am still torn!! I do think I'll get more use out of the fuse but I'm terrified of burning myself. I don't make a ton of cards, currently, but I used to and plan to again. I'm intrigued by the MS tool...may have to look into that one.

I would not worry too much about burning yourself with the fuse tool. I am incredibly accident prone and I've not had any accidents with it. Personally I am more scared of the heat tool than I am the fuse. That sucker gets hot!

My heat gun does not get used a lot. Don't own the Fuse yet although it's been on my wishlist FOREVER (the EU version keeps selling out before I can get it. Very frustrating). I think it's a great tool for card makers too if you are into shaker cards!

The heat tool is the embossing gun I think.

Since I do odd sized PL albums (6x12 and 9x12) the fuse is a must have, mostly for my own sanity. But the heat embossing gun is great to have around during holidays and when birthday cards need to be made!

I always thought they only carried their lines and not other brands. Yes, it shows I have never shopped there, lol. I haven't burned myself on the Fuse. Even though I have been stamping forever I still get nervous around my heat gun. I haven't been burned by my heat gun either. My DH was worried about me burning myself on the Fuse. He thought the stand was not sturdy enough. He bought me a soldering iron stand. Now the Fuse is a lot safer to use.

I did burn myself on the Fuse. I was not paying attention to how I was holding it. I guess I must hold my pens close to the bottom because that is how I held the Fuse when I burned myself. I got mine at HL with a coupon. It's Becky Higgins PL one, so is white. It is in the back with all the other PL stuff.
I used it to make a pocket letter, but haven't done much else with it yet. I have embossed several things lately, though, so I guess there is that. I do want to play with the Fuse later today to see what else I can make.
