Sounds like a dumb question, but with all the talk of over shopping and spending freezes do you shop just because you love the thrill of buying or are you constantly on the pursuit for something better/newer?
After being a scrapbooker for 17 years I have gone through all the different phases. I am really at a point where I think my stash is great and more than plenty to keep me busy for probably the rest of my life - granted I'd need to actually start regularly scrapbooking again. Of course the less I scrapbook the less I feel the need to go shopping. And I've also found with the lack of magazines and LSS closings I'm less tempted to shop because I don't see the new products.

I do! But, I am constantly purging anything I don't still love. I separated out all my paper pads and donated any sheets I didn't love and knew I was unlikely to use. I'm sure I could scrapbook for years with the paper and embellishments I have

I feel about my paper the way my mom and grandmother felt about their fabric. I really love it. There is the thrill of buying, too, and the thrill of having, but the paper really does bring me joy.

I feel the same way, carolynhasacat. I love having an overblown stash. I use my supplies with abandon, knowing there is plenty in my stash. I can be generous when crafting with DD or friends. I don't fear cutting into that Especially Lovely piece of paper, and I don't worry about running out of bling. Shopping is still fun for me, mostly because a little infusion of something new often inspires me to go on a crafting jag. Like amom23, though, the urge to shop has dwindled with the decline of scrapbooking magazines and LSSs.

Even though I have been scrapping since the late 90s, a lot of my stash is new. After a long hiatus, I've only recently set up a a workspace with lots of scrappy storage. Having the space has has greatly improved my desire to scrapbook.
I love putting together my own kits and I can usually find just the right little embellishment for a layout. I buy what I like, and that's usually enough for it to all go together somehow. I have no plans to purge anything soon, but a slow down in acquisition wouldn't hurt.

I do love my stuff! Last year I went through and pulled out all of the oddball samples of stuff I got in classes or at trade shows from the heyday of scrapping when I had my storefront that I know I'll never, ever use so it was easy to cut loose. I donated a pile of stuff to DD's kindergarten class and a huge box of scrap cardstock, and after the next round of scrappy rummage sales in the spring they will get a bunch more.
A bunch of what I kept, I sorted into themes because that's how I scrap. It was so fun going through all that ancient stuff and seeing all of that fun and cute stuff that I bought for one project or another but never had the time to actually sit down and work on them. A bunch of it is stuff I still really love and many of the companies are out of business now so I'm glad I still have it.
To be honest, I have an electronic cutter and can design pretty much anything I want or need that I don't already have. I don't know that I would be able to scrap for the rest of my life with what I already have, but it sure would last me for a very long time. I could probably scrap all day twice a month for the next two years straight and not make it through just my Disney photos and stuff.

I do!
About this time last year I was organizing and streamlining my space. I saw some holes in my stash and purged stuff I no longer use or dabble in. Because I was drawn to more feminine looking products pre-DS, I needed boy-friendly papers and embellishments badly. So I gave myself permission to buy those and a few other things I felt I was missing (trendy embellishments, 6x6 pads, etc.) Now I feel like I have a more balanced stash and have slowed down on the shopping, except for the boy-specific lines bc I go through them like water and they're few and far between.

I do. I tend to purge a couple times a year when I go to a weekend crop. I bring what I know I won't use and put it on the donate table at the crop. I have a pretty cool LSS near me and once a year a group of friends and I go on a weekend LSS tour...driving down to OR and hitting up all our favorite stores in Western WA. I do love to shop for new supplies, but like to look at them in person.

I fell into the trap of buying everything I saw on sale when I first started scrapping, irrespective of whether I liked it or knew how to use it, because it was so hard to find contemporary products in Australia at the time. I had a massive purge last year and another one recently when organising my craft room, so I'm more confident of using what I have left. I also struggle with "just using it"! I find Glitter Girl really inspiring for making that first cut in the paper so I'm hoping her new series will help me out again.

I love my sb supplies! I don't shop much and don't use a lot of embellishments and I don't ever purge anything. So far, I have enough storage room that I can keep everything. I usually only go shopping when I need solid cardstock for matting or adhesive. I do usually pick up a few other supplies then and I like to stop by TM occaisonally.

Love my stash, and I really don't need to buy a thing ever again. I didn't buy much at all last year because I just don't need anything. I even purged a ton. I am thinking it will be the same this year.

I love my supplies. I don't buy too much at a time, and when I do scrap, I really go for it and am not afraid to use anything and everything I have, because I know there will always be something new I love.

I like a lot of what I have, simply because I took a long break from scrapping, and started back by doing a few small projects in 2014 (30 days and dd, and a few pocket pages). Not much this past year, but want to do more in 2016. Anyway, I think part of the love is that I forgot about a lot of the stuff, and rediscovering was like finding a present! I did purge and need to purge more.
I do still like to buy, and enjoyed searching out the additional things I "needed" for the 2014 projects. I used some stamps in those, and I liked that part of it. I had never used clear stamps and those are fun. But I am trying not to impulse buy because I know I may not really need it or use it.

Some I love, some I don't. The products I don't love are papers that came in the big paper pads, or that I found at Tuesday Morning and HAD to get everything in the entire line that was available there (because the papers supposedly coordinated), or products that someone at the LSS persuaded me to buy that I never used (but I'm going to use "someday").
The products I love are mostly the ones I chose solely because I loved them.
There is a paper arts store that opened around the time that the LSS closed, but I have SO much in my stash now that I really feel I need to shop my stash first. Besides, the paper arts store is a lot further away, and their hours are limited, so I have to plan ahead. I used to just drop by the LSS all the time.
Between my stash, my Cameo, and my stamp collection, I could manage to scrap for decades without needing anything but adhesive. I am pretty sure I would need adhesive at some point.

I separated out all my paper pads and donated any sheets I didn't love and knew I was unlikely to use. That's something I never thought to do, but really should. I have a bunch of pads and stacks, and I know I won't ever use half the paper in some of the themed ones.

I usually only shop for supplies with a specific project in mind. Papercrafting is one of many hobbies/pastimes I'm interested in so I have to prioritize when it comes to how much of my budget and storage space I can devote to it. I don't have the means and space to buy simply because I want (most of the time at least). I have a little stockpile of the basics and necessities and then the rest is mostly supplies waiting for specific projects or supplies left over from specific projects.
I'm about at terminal capacity storage-wise so I probably need to go through my stuff soon and pull out all the leftover embellishments and paper from past projects, along with random things I don't think I'll ever use, and pass them along.
I do love most of what I have though.

I LOVE my scrapbooking supplies. I have never purged, and frankly when I see you purgers getting rid of stuff I always want to say "donate to me, I will be happy to pay the shipping"
I LOVE always having supplies on hand, but feel I don't really have as much as many of you, but I have a room full.

I think I do like my stash as I really haven't purchased much the past few years. I will treat myself to few new trendy things I like, but literally maybe $100 a year in purchases. So much better than I used to be. Although, I do feel like I still have a lot of purging to do, which I don't mind either. Even thought I have a room and furniture to accommodate my stuff for now, it would be nice to get it down to a few drawers and keep it simple.

Another one here, loving her huge stash! Just like kate I don't hold back because I know there's plenty left when I'm done with a project. In fact, using up a big load of stuff for a project and noticing it didn't even make a dent in my stash, made me realize that those supplies will last my lifetime and longer. I don't need to buy anything (except for adhesives). I haven't really purged, but I've sold off duplicate stamps and donated duplicates and things I won't use to my nieces (no little boys in our family yet). They love to get scrappy packages for making cards etc. And cute paperclips are always a popular small gift to my girlfriends when they drop by to admire my stash, even if they aren't papercrafters, themselves. I'm trying to stop shopping completely, but I'm failing miserably because I have such a hard time resisting cute stamps. And Cocoa Daisy planner pages.

I love my supplies. Just looking at all of it makes me happy. I use to save my "good" paper and embellishments for a special page now I just use it, no more saving it for the right page. I don't buy anything often, however it is fun once in a while to just pick up a new thing or 2. With all the scrapbooking stores near me closing I don't spend near as much since I love to see and feel it before buying.

As part of my purge, I got rid of old supplies, things I didn't like and knew I would never use, and things that were no longer my style. What I kept I like.

I do. I have regular purges and last year got rid of a heap of old paper and embellishments that just weren't my style anymore. I feel like I still need to get rid of a few things, but mostly I love my stash and could also scrap for a few years without needing to buy anything else!

Count me in! I love my goodies, too! I don't purge often and I don't purge much.
My 'need' to shop comes mainly from opportunity. If I'm on a scrappy weekend, it just naturally follows that at least one of the gals wants to hit up a store, so we all go. That's when I'll end up buying - and it's usually stuff I don't need.
The emails I get from places I've shopped before (or those damn Peachy Cheap deals!) suck me in once in a while.
Those are the things that I need to freeze myself off from. Like so many Peas, other than adhesive, basic cs, page protectors, albums & blade refills, I could happily scrap for many years without buying another thing.

I'm another that loves her stash! It's all so pretty! I purged about a year and a half ago, paring down to what I really loved. Felt great. Then I got busy and stopped scrapping for about a year. I still love what I had when I stopped and love the new stuff I've bought since I started up again

I don't have or use any supplies except photos and fonts. I do love my fonts, and am always looking for good, classic and artsy fonts. I'm not much into shopping and downloading. But I know I am in the VAST minority.

I love my things too. I buy tools now. I buy a lot of vintage items. That is more my style. I am a frugal crafter. I like to make my own things. When I buy something I really do want it. Then it becomes something I treasure and enjoy using. I do buy something every week. It is usually small like napkins to use in my art journal or some new washi tape.

One thing I want to say besides having too much stuff like we all do. My stuff makes me happy. I look at it, count sheets of paper I have, look at ribbon and lace, I look at my paints and mists, I look at my paper and some of it yuck but some of it is DIVINE! I love it! I could never get rid of it. I love it that much.
I have Quikutz alphabets. I have plenty I would say 20 rough estimate maybe a few more. I love them and will never give them up! I have a trusty old red Sizzix and it is so easy to use. I have never worn out a single white cutting pad and it is just easy. I have other die cutting machines. This is so easy! I never run out of alphabet stickers, I can always make more words. I just have to have the patience to do so. I love it, though!
I went through and counted the number of page kits I have to put together. I think I have like 50 or 100? I don't know. I love them. I love them all. The paper chosen wasn't whole sheets so I didn't have to think what the heck am I going to do with this much weird stripe. On the page it is AMAZING for contrast. I couldn't have made it that great. The place I bought it from did, though!!!
You know those paper pads from K&Company that no one admits to buying? I buy them. I don't buy all of them but I do have lots. I love them! I use them for other things besides scrapbooking but I love them!!! I just do!
My scrapbooking stash isn't all rainbows and unicorns. There is stuff in there I never want to see again! I can't get rid of it fast enough but I will!!!

Love my stash!! I shop it first always, but enjoy the occasional on-line and in-store shopping for newer things. Some stuff will catch my eye in a process video or on Pinterest or a gallery and I'll go on the hunt to find it. Supplements my goodies nicely. I have actually purged every time we've moved (military), but I suspect we'll be here in this house for quite a long time (now retired military), so I've only purged once when I initially set up my scrap room. So far, no need to purge anymore, love it all!
