So now Starbucks free drink on your birthday expires the day after-- in other words, you have to use it on your birthday. It used to be good for a week. Sadness.

Hmmm. I just got mine this week and the app said I had 3 days to use it. I used it today and today was not my actual Bday.

Wow! My birthday was at the end of November and the baristas had some fun with it. I had 2 freebees on my card and she took the birthday one first. She said it had 2 weeks to expire. This is a sad change!
Depending on your Starbucks, and what mood the baristas are in, they will not only make you whatever you want but they like to get creative. They took the cup and wrote Happy Birthday, Elannah all over it. I mean all over it, hearts everywhere. I was not looking and I get this THING with inches of whipping cream all over it. I think they needed something fun to do that day and that's why they did it. They are sweet!!!

I have no problem using my free drinks on the day that I get them. I'd sure never let one expire! Melissa

Sometimes I can use a reward on the actual day. Other times it's not an option for me to get out. It was just sad to order expecting to use it, onlyu to find it had expired. And I know, definitely a silly first world non-problem.

I found this out this year too.....
I had the flu on my birthday and a few days before and a day or two after. I went a week later to get my free bday drink and they couldn't find the code on my app. The barista ended up giving me the drink for free anyway and later on I looked over my transactions on the app and noticed that my free bday drink offer had expired the day after my birthday.
When Sbux changes stuff like that, they should notify people of the change.
It is silly but I LOVE getting a free drink for my birthday!!!!!

I know -- me too. I don't generally get many birthday gifts, having a birthday so close to Christmas and New Year's, so I kind of take irrational pleasure in the freebie drink "gift".

Unrelated but I would like to encourage everyone to download the free "pick of the week" retype app they offered a week ago. It is great and I think it may be the only one I have actually downloaded. Scrapbookers, teachers will love it!!

The app is actually called Retype and you should check it out. extremely cute. I made up some cute happy new year's eve texts with it and plan to use some of the sayings and formats in my powerpoints for class this year.

My birthday was Thanksgiving Day. I got the notification that I had the reward at 3 pm the day before. Went to use it late afternoon on Black Friday, and it was already expired. I was super bummed...but then again, it was free. So, I didn't really sweat it.

I used it sometime in December. Maybe that's something Canada still hasn't implemented?

She asked if we could go to Starbucks for her FREE DRINK, so we took her. She was going to just run in and get it because we were doing some other things, and noone else wanted a drink. . . They told her NO FREE DRINKS! Its only a discount, and chanrged her $4.05 for a larger size of the drink she normally gets! JERKS!!!!

I didn't get to use mine either. Forgot all about it, actually. Oh well! Don't try and get your free Firehouse sub the day before your birthday either, like I tried to a couple of years ago. I wasn't going to be out and about on my actual day, and I asked the manager if I could redeem it a day early, and not only did she say no (which I get, rules are rules), but she was downright nasty about it!!!

My birthday was in December and I think it was three days or maybe two I wish they gave you longer but at least they still give you a free drink. I know there are just some times it isn't worth it to go to Starbucks - we aren't people that go there that often. do love that I can get a larger drink than normal and add ons if I wanted them.

I just double checked my bday reward email bc I still had it.
It said it was good Jan 3-6 so I 4 days to use it. I used it Jan 5.
It was a free drink, not a discount.
You guys realize that if you have an inconvenient bday like Thanksgiving you can just put any date you want in there, right? I never use my real bday for anything. I enter a different date on all my rewards cards to various stores and restaurants so I always have a coupon for something every month.

I'm just wondering how the computer didn't do it automatically? I'll be honest, I didn't go in with her, I waited in the car. However, she frequents Starbucks a lot, has their app and a card with money on it. It was her actual birthday also, so, yeah - weird! I will agree with a previous poster that mentioned it depends on the barista that you get. It just ticks me off that she was so excited to go and get her "free" birthday drink and he told her, no - It's not free, just discounted. But, he made her feel good because he gave her a bigger size than what she normally orders!

I wonder if she didn't show it? How odd!

My birthday was 12/31. The freebie showed up on my app on 12/29 and was set to expire on 1/1. Good thing I had that big birthday plan of dropping DS at daycare, grabbing my coffee and heading home to gut the pantry. Otherwise, I would have missed it!

I took a mental note to come back and report closer to my birthday. My birthday is tomorrow. The award applied today, and it expires Friday. I'm guessing I could maybe actually use it on Friday?? I'll probably use it tomorrow though.
