I bought one at overstock.com 2 yrs. ago and it's still shedding. It doesn't seem to have thin spots even in the high traffic areas. I love the rug otherwise but I'm glad I have a good vacuum. All in all it was worth the price.

This is where I get mine. They are not 100% what I want but at $14.99 a piece they are easily replaceable.

I've seen them at Garden Ridge, IKEA, Lowe's, Home Depot, Tuesday Morning, Target. I've been looking to replace ours as well and so far those are the only places that had them that I've noticed.

I usually find a good selection at Ross. If you have one nearby it might be worth checking there. I know lots of people don't like shopping there, but we are lucky that both of the stores in our area aren't horribly gross. (though one is worse than the other)

Overstock is good, IKEA is good, Menard's is good if you live near one and sometimes other home improvement stores can be hit or miss. I've also had excellent luck buying on Facebook/Craigslist. You have to be picky. Marshalls has nice rugs but they are still kind of pricey to me. Target and Walmart both have good selections too but can get pricey fast.

Love Ballard Designs but shop Home Goods as well when budget necessitates it.

JCPenney, Kohls, and Target. I don't like to spend a lot on area rugs. That way when I change my decor I don't feel guilty buying a new rug. lol

I just got a 9 x 12 rug from overstock. It was on sale and had free shipping...its not going to be something that last 50 years but I needed to cover up some older wood floors. Its thin but really nice. Attachments:

Overstock carries rugs from many different manufacturers. I heavily researched rugs for over two years - yes, YEARS - trying to make my mind up on what I wanted. I learned that Overstock prices change often, sometimes daily, and the prices will go up and down.
Just don't be like me and wait too long to buy. I narrowed my choices down to two or three and when I finally decided on one, it was sold out. I ended up buying it at a local rug place for twice the price I could have gotten it for on Overstock. :/

We've gotten ours from Penney's, Target, Fred Meyer, Home Depot and Overstock. So just about anywhere

Another vote for Ikea. I'm allergic to wool, so the cheap rugs work the best. Ikea's rugs hold up pretty well, but if we do need to replace them, it's not a huge investment.

Home Decorator's Collection for me. I'm an on line shopper though and you might prefer to actually look at the rugs. I've been happy with the service from HDC and have ordered several room size rugs from them. They arrived rolled and well packaged.
