I watched a few videos about the products that Heidi Swapp debuted at CHA 2016. I was floored by how many new products she is offering. She had a traumatic year with her son's death and I can only imagine how difficult it was to continue with her work while going through that. If you take that event out of her year, I still can't get my head around how much time it takes to develop and perfect all of these new products. I was simply amazed at all she was able to deliver. And then to realize she did it all during such an emotional time. I'm so impressed.
And also interested in what actually goes into creating these products. Is she through American Crafts? I'm sure she has all sorts of help with their departments, but that still has to be a LOT of work. And a lot of creative skill.
Wow.

At the risk of being gossip-y, she has a team and a well-established design esthetic. It's really not that hard to imagine that she could get this done in a timely fashion if she wanted to...while passing a lot of the day to day off to her team. Some people grieve by throwing themselves into their work. Maybe that was what she found therapeutic? Who knows. im sure her lines are in the works for a long time. I don't know her personally but by watching what she (and her team) put out on social media, it appears that she and her family have travelled a good bit more since their loss--maybe that's a coping strategy? I don't know her but I pray for her almost daily. She has endured with such grace and I hope that's genuine and not just a public persona. I'm not a put everything out there person. When I hurt, I hide.

I have a little bit of experience with the manufacturing end of things in the craft world. The big companies have to have all kinds of products in the pipeline constantly so they can be ready for the next trade show. The stuff that was released at this show was probably in production several months ago already. I would be willing to bet that the stuff she was working on when her son passed won't be released until sometime next year.

Ali Edwards said albums take 6 months lead time, so HS released this CHA was probably already way into production when her son passed. But she is still wow!

That is so kind of you to pray for her! She is on my heart a LOT. I had a chance to talk with her about a year ago for a long time at an event and I worked for her once at a different event and she is as genuine as she appears. She's one of my favorite people on the planet.
I think she has embraced memory keeping even more since the tragedy. Now pictures and scrapbooks have a whole new meaning to her.

I think Heidi Swapp had a lot of that stuff in the pipeline already before the tragic event happened. development doesn't happen overnight so she was probably in the midst of things when it happened and hopefully she found some solace by keeping busy getting ready to launch all of it.

She's done a great job evolving with the hobby.
PI respect how she's been open about the sadness in her public communication. But kept some things private and protected her family members.
I do not mean this condescending- even before the tragedy we've seen her mature and grow over the past few years. Impressive example of business in an industry that's not always "professional" in its dealings.

At this point she may be a little like Martha Stewart and be more of a face for her products than the main innovator.
I do wish her the best. My heart is still sad when I think of her family.

Yea I'm guessing it's sort of more like the fashion world where it's done so well in advance in order to get to production. Also I would think the American Crafts affiliation supports operations as well.
I love Heidi Swapp too. I listened to a speech she gave at a BPC event online and she actually convinced me to not give up scrapbooking at a time where I was wondering if it really mattered.
Admittedly I didn't used to like her product, bcz she was much more girly, pink and florals, just not my style. But the past few years her stuff is on point. Love her marquee letters and the Minc is just awesome. I would have never ever guessed I would use it like I do.
