Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. I'm at work and don't have time to read through the 6 page helpful hints thread.
I liked at the old board how the title would unbold if you opened it. Can we do something like that here?
Edited to add: And what is the little box to the left of the title? What does that do?
Thanks!

Any thread you have not read will have a "new" beside it, once you have read it that will disappear. If you click on the new it will take you to posts that you have not read in that thread.
With so much action on here you would be marking the threads constantly.
I have never clicked on the box so have no idea what it is for. Off to find out.

but they all still say new! I've opened a bunch of threads and the 'new' is still there.

If you click on the little box it puts a green check mark in it. But I have no idea what the green check mark means.

If you put a check in the box next to the threads you've read, you can go to the top and click the pull down called "Actions", then choose "Mark as read".
That's irritating to me though, I'd like it to change color when I've opened it.

You are right the new does not always go away. So I read a thread and clicked the box and then clicked on new and there was a new post and when I went back the green check was gone.
So maybe the green check means you read and there is no new posts.

Click in the check box.
Go up to the little drop-down (top right of screen) that says "Actions" Click "mark as Read" Then you have choices for how long it will stay marked as read. Pick one. If you don't ever want the new box to come up again, pick "Forever"
Personally, I like this way so much better. When you click the "new" box to the side of a thread it takes you right to where you left off the last time you were reading.

I also want to thank you for asking these questions. I'm glad to know that I can customize the threads to my preferences and can easily pick up where I was reading on a thread.
I needed this little reminder since the threads on board functions are a lot of information to retain all at one time.

I found out that if you use your Back button, the New box will not disappear. If you return to the top of the thread and then click on the 2 Peas NSRB Resurrected or other title, it will take you back to the board with no New box. It will stay like that until someone else posts a reply to that thread. HTH.
