We have a flight early During the snowstorm. Anybody have any tips about flights and them being cancelled or delayed? Should we still go to the airport and try to deal with things there? Call before? Try to reschedule now? We don't know how much snow we'll get but I'm definitely expecting it to change our travel plans. If you have any tips or advice, I would appreciate it!

Last night's news advised contacting your carrier. I'm sure they are already trying to get ahead of the mess.
We had trouble over Christmas even though our trip was not in weather, the planes coming in were. Good luck!

I'd say it also depends on where you are and where you're going. We had such a mess here in the DC area from the snow last night, which isn't even the big one yet, that lots of flights have been canceled and aren't being rescheduled. I was supposed to sub for a teacher today and tomorrow, and she was headed for Tampa! Poor thing, now she's stuck here for the entire weekend.

If you do end up going to the airport and your flight gets delayed/changed, if you're at a major airport, I highly recommend spending the $50 for at least one of your people to go into the lounge. They have "premium" customer service reps in the lounge who are MUCH friendlier and more helpful at getting flights switched than the regular desk. And calling during a big snowstorm? Total joke, good luck getting through. The $50 is worth it to get in the shorter line with the better customer service agents.
If you get stuck overnight somewhere, forget the line for hotel vouchers. It's like $40 and there's a good chance they'll be out of rooms by the time you get to the front, plus the frustration of waiting in that line with 100 other pissed-off people is unbearable. Get on the phone IMMEDIATELY and book your own room somewhere nearby then catch a shuttle ASAP. I've even booked through Hotels.com when stuck in an airport (bypassing the hold when calling a hotel), and when I got there they claimed they didn't have a room for me. Hotels.com got them on the phone and made them give me one of the rooms, I assume because otherwise they lose their hotels.com listing or there is some penalty. That was really nice to have them do the fighting for me.
Basically, do everything you can to bypass lines. Lines are your enemy because all those people in front of you are getting the flights/rooms/cars/whatever you want.
