I'm thinking of getting into these to use with stencils especially. If you have the minis, is there a decent amount of ink in them? I'm trying to figure out if I should get the minis so I can get more colors, or go for more ink in a full size and only get a couple of colors? I really want the variety of color, but not if they're only going to last a short while and I'll have to buy reinkers. Oh, CAN you reink them?
Thanks!

I don't have any minis but they are a great idea. Yes, there are re-inkers. I probably use the re-inkers more than the ink pads. Lots of techniques to do with them.

I have lots of the full size pads, but I didn't have any of the newer colors, so when Hobby Lobby got them in stock, I bought pack 1 & 2... I love them. I only have two full size, and I got one mini in my stamp kit in May. It was way juicier than the full size. I will definitely purchase more minis. Less space and, it the size really makes no difference (as far as usage). The lid on my one mini is quite snug. The full size lids are not. Katie, are you saying your new minis have loose lids?

Added question ~ is it possible to use make up sponges instead of the distress tool? I already have those.

I have all full sized pads and the reinkers. I haven't reinked my pads, but have used the reinkers for techniques. When I started collecting, the mini's weren't around. If I were collecting today, I'd totally do mini's and get the re-inkers.
JustTricia, I wouldn't see why the make up sponges wouldn't work. I use them with paints all the time and with pigment inks.

Ya know what's annoying? The packages of the minis...ALL have at least 1 colour I already own in a full size version, and ALL have just 1 colour I'm calling a "must have" new colour So I decided to stick with full size! I get the colour I'm craving (like peacock feathers. Haven't picked it up yet!) for less $$ than buying a pack of 4 minis which would duplicate for me! Kirsten

Since I previously only owned brown hues (used to do distressing/grunge like 8 years ago), I have been purchasing the minis in the newer colors. I don't have an issue with duplication so for me, the minis is the way to go. That and the new smaller blending tools. I've heard how much easier it is to use them than the original. When I took a class from Ranger AGES ago, they had us using makeup sponges to apply the ink on b&w photos.

I have been eyeing the minis for a while. I have some from the old Making Memories distress kit that are very close to the same, if not the same size. I love them because they keep me from making a giant mess. They are truly on their last leg. Looks like I have to go to Hobby Lobby soon.

I don't have any of the full size so I just started with the mini's. I have bought pack 1 and 2, I think. I got one at Hobby Lobby and one at Michaels. Both with coupons so they ended up being $5 to $6 each. This gives me quite a few colors so I am going to stick to these for now.

I'd like to get some of the mini packs when I can spend some $- seems like an inexpensive way to expand my color options.

I like the idea of the minis too. I have bought minis for other inks and it certainly helps your $$ stretch further.

I have very few stamps. I want to use them more but I felt I never had the colors I want/need. So I a few days ago, I ordered at SB.com the whole set, 8 set of minis (I guess) - T.Holtz Distress mini kits. I hope they are nice. It was good to find this post. After receiving them I will post my opinion about them.

I like that they made a storage tin for the minis now. I also thought it was smart of them to make sure the mini blending tool (the round one) pads fit underneath the minis. Great storage if you have a different pad for each color!

I held out for SOOO long, and then I started watching videos and seeing projects using Distress Inks early last year and started my collection of ink pads and markers. NOW they have all the great mini sizes with storage tins! UGH! Why couldn't they have started these about a year earlier?!? LOL

When we were have financial troubles I sold all of my full sized pads and the markers(with tears in my eyes ) So now that we are all straightened out, I am going to get some of the minis.

I bought one pack of the minis and they don't seem to be as wet as the full size. Could be because the caps don't fit very well. Doesn't matter if I stack them or not, the caps come off too easily.

If the minis were sold individually, I think I would go the mini route. But as many people said earlier, they just weren't out when I started my "collection" and the Type A side of me really doesn't like the idea of mixing mini with full size, lol.
That being said, I have and will continue to purchase the full size. However, I only wait until I can get them on sale with a coupon or something. I also don't by the re-inkers. Just haven't had a need to yet and not sure if I ever will.

Mini. More colors for less money! The ones you end up using more of, you can re ink.
