I need thoughts and suggestions from peas that travel with their kiddos! I'm planning a 5-6night vacation for DH and I, our two kids, and my brother and his two boys. We want to go toward the end of February, and had thought about Mexico or a Disney cruise.
Thoughts? Stories? Starting places? Thanks!!

Disney Cruise over Mexico! We love cruising on Disney. Always plenty to do for everyone. And February is a great time of year to cruise. Stephanie in TX

Which ship did you travrl on? Did you do Hawaii or Carribean, or?? What things made it great- sounds like you've done several!

Once you decide, I would recommend a travel agent. We are planning a holiday with my cousin's family (12 in total with 5 kids ranging in ages from 1 to 16) and because we are travelling from different coasts it is becoming a full time job for my cousin to try to find something that will work. He has involved a travel agency just to do some of the legwork for him but we are all having to be very flexible with destinations. The destination has changed four times already and I don't think we are settled yet!

I would do a Caribbean cruise over going to mexico. How old are the kids. They have great kid clubs on all cruise lines. My 5 and 3 year old loved them and we barely saw them on the days at sea. So we had a great mix of family time and adult time.

We've done both. The weather in Mexico in February was gorgeous!! We stayed at the Grand Mayan resort in Playa Del Carmen--I would highly recommend it. We did the Disney cruise in November and also had good weather. I think either vacation would be fun, but I'd look into both options and see what works for you.

I had a blast on the Disney Cruise! We had family members from age 5-50 and we all had so much fun! It's so nice because you don't have to cook, clean or organize anything. My younger sister had lots of fun in the kids club, so much she didn't want to leave.
The wait staff was amazing and super nice! We thought we would relax on the cruise but there was so much to do we rarely relaxed by the pool. Oh and the unlimited ice cream and soda and food was nice:) They also have an adult side so no need to worry anti kids in the pool. Also had a gym, spa and nice restaurants for adults.
We went on a few islands and explored which was quite fun. I would definitely go on a Disney cruise again! I have never been to Mexico so I can't compare.

The cruise!!! Our Disney cruise was absolutely wonderful - top notch in every way. We went about 8 years ago - one thing that was cool was we were seated with a family with kids close in age to that of mine. They became pretty good friends - stayed connected on fb and one son actually ended up at the same college for a year as my son! Anyway, cannot recommend the Disney cruise highly enough - you'll love it!

Having never taken a cruise because it is so expensive, I have been to Mexico 4 times. The mexico option shouldn't be ruled out because the all inclusive hotels also provide a lot of fun entertainment for kids and adults - and it is probably half the cost.

Hands down, Disney cruise!! You can cruise to Mexico, experience it and then go on to something else. The kids activities on the Disney cruise are fantastic.

I've been on cruises and gone to resorts. We prefer going to a resort (especially all-inclusive) to going on a cruise. There are time restrictions on a cruise. You have to be back to the ship at a certain time. You only have a few hours in each port of call. If you drink, the alcohol is extra on a cruise. It's included in an all-inclusive resort. We also like being able to plan what we want to do each day. We've been to Cancun twice. We'd go back again. A cruise is a nice way to determine if you want to go stay on an island for a week. We've never been disappointed with any place that we've gone though....even without seeing it first. We were disappointed with our accommodations on St. Thomas though. We'd go back to St. Thomas but we'd never stay at Bluebeard's Castle again.

I've not done either one but in good pea fashion I won't let that stop me With several kids in the group I'd go with Disney if you can afford it. Just because kids and Disney together are so special. I know, adults can enjoy disney without kids and kids can enjoy Mexico. I just think Mexico can be enjoyed later when the kids are older teens and feeling a bit anti childhood fantasy with their new found maturity.

The answer is clearly a Disney cruise to Mexico! We had a blast on the Wonder over Spring Break this year.

I've never done Disney, but been to Mexico 4 times. I guess a lot would depend on the personalities of those involved. I have friends who worship anything Disney, and that's what they choose for all of their vacations. They have never been disappointed. If the kids are into Disney, that would be an excellent choice.
My preferences are more toward the exploration type of vacations, and Mexico is an excellent option for that. In the Riviera Maya you can explore ancient ruins, participate in cultural events, snorkel, zip line, hike in the jungle, hike/swim in caves, visit monkey preserves, swim with wild sea turtles, jeep ride through the jungle, bike ride through the jungle, horse ride along the beach, float down a river in a wildlife reserve...oh my gosh, my list would take a full page. I've found the people to be warm and friendly, and being immersed in another culture is simply awesome.

We loved our cruise with the kids! Our kids were 9 & 6 and we did a 6 night Caribbean.
