let them know? Fast food places have always told us if our order is wrong, they just replace it-they can't take back any of the 'wrong' stuff or if they do they throw it away. Once it's over the counter, it cannot go back in the kitchen. We went tonight and my son ordered the classic fries but got the new crinkle fries. DH had the tray at the table before DS saw it. I told him to take them to the counter and let them know. The girl there (she is not new but has never really gotten the hang of it, if you know what I mean) took the wrong fries and threw them back into the rest of the batch, and then got him a new order of the classic fries. Most people probably wouldn't think twice about it but [HASH]1 - ds has been fighting a cold and who knows if he coughed in them and [HASH]2 - dealing with food allergies makes you think about things like this in a whole new way.
The girl that did it was the same one that took our order and she has never gotten a single one of our orders right (and it's a pretty simple order).

I had no idea there was hash-tagging on this board.

I'd say that's a definite call to the local health inspector.
(By the way Gale, an updates on Pete? I love that calf.)

Pete is still here for now. Probably will be sold in the fall though. He got very un-sociable for a while after we put him in with other calves. He wouldn't let dh near him at all. Then a couple of weeks ago dh was able to go up to him and scratch his back but Pete's girlfriend didn't like that one bit and would try to push Pete away. She was sold about a week ago and I think Pete misses her because now he is coming right up to dh again. I'll have to try to get some pictures. I haven't taken any of him since last winter.

Definitely should be reported to the local health department and to the management. Can't be too careful!

I don't know that I'd go as far as contacting the health inspector, but I definitely would have said something to the manager right then and there. Depending on his/her response, I might report it to the corporate office. Sounds like a simple training issue.

Gale, those teenage hormones affect cows, too, I see.
I've heard waitstaff say that if they set a plate of food in front of someone that's incorrect, they can't take it back into the kitchen and redo it. So dumping fries that may have been touched or coughed on back into the others is a definite violation.

Good points, all. Slightly to the side of this topic, I get creeped out by all the extra handling of the usually fancy food on all the cooking shows. Re-plating, wiping of plates at the pass to remove fingerprints (with a cloth which has been over the contestant's shoulder or tucked into their apron) and don't get me started on the lack of proper headwear!

That is yuk big time! (trying hard with the exclamations as per other post).
I would have said something to the manager at the time. I think you need to raise it with the store initially though rather than go straight off to the health inspector.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. There's a guy that works there that we know and he left just after we got there. I thought, for some reason, that he was coming back (I thought he was just on a break) and I was going to talk to him but he didn't get back by the time we left. I tend to be a little germophobic so I didn't know if I was just being squeamish or if it was really something bad. I guess it was bad.

I would have to report this. Food that has been handled by a customer, and returned the counter should not be sent back to the kitchen for resale. It might seem a small misdemeanour at first glance, but if the person returning the food was Typhoid Mary, or a deranged poisoner, there would be an almighty hue and cry.

Yep, gross. Being a non-confrontational pansy, I'd probably call the number once I got home, unless I was peeved enough about that one employee who never gets it right (when I have a large enough bee in my bonnet I'm like a different person).

I called and spoke with the manager. She knew exactly who the girl was and said she's "ditzy". She also said they're definitely supposed to throw them away and that she would talk to the employee.

This would give the manager time to retrain the employees, espeically since you mention this cashier seemed new in her job she may not have known. **Whoops, we must have been typing at the same time, Gail.

I have a friend who is a manager for BK. She says if you see a worker putting in rejected fries back in the warmer, let the manager know. They will take all of the fries and toss them and the employee will often get written up (depending on the manager and their mood).

Let Burger King know. But more importantly, I think you should start a weekly Pete thread :giggle: Clearly it's been too long - look at the love life, makeups and breakups he's had... I need a Days of Our Pete type soap thread... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
