I really "lost it" last night trying to update my iPhone from my computer... for months iTunes is NOT working on my computer. Incompatible! OS is Windows 7, and the latest and greatest iTunes update was to "fix" it. Oh yea It got bad, it got messy, I tossed a "hissy fit" complete with pounding my hand on a hard object (the kitchen island) and had 2 glasses of wine that I drank like they were shots!!! DH let me vent, poured me wine, sat and spent 6 hours trying to "fix things." It is mostly working, he had some adult beverages too but kept his cold. Said I was "venting" enough for the two of us. So, my wonderful computer geek spouse. (and I've been wanting to use that new smiley too) So anyone else have a "first world" problem? Need to vent about tech? Need to praise someone you live with?

At least you have a computer geek spouse! My husband thinks the internet is the root of all evil, well that is until he needs me to look up something. I understand your ITunes pain. I had an issue with my ITunes earlier this month and was ready to beat my head against the wall. My husband's solution, just forget about it. I'm jealous that you had help .

There are days when I feel like technology is ruining us. I finally upgraded my Ipad to the latest OS and I want to throw it through as far as I can. It's slower and it's locking up, it is making me crazy. DH is a wiz with fixing just about anything but the computer. Glad your DH was able to help you save your sanity (along with help from the wine ).

My mother is convinced that one day all the technology is going to fail at once and we will be screwed. (She is mostly joking. LOL)
Personally, I think Itunes is a creation of Satan. He got together with Steve Jobs and said "Let's sell this as intuitive and life changing, but really it will be so complicated their head's will explode."
I have spent the equivalent to a full time work week trying to get my itunes and phone to make nice with each other.

My Wi-Fi sucks in our house and I have no clue what to do about it. Can I get a 'stronger' wi-fi box from Best Buy than the one AT&T provided? It feels like such a first-world whine that I can't sit in bed and watch netflix because I get no service. It takes FOREVER to load this stie, forget about Facebook or CNN. I have to be on the other side of the house where the router is connected to the desktop computer. So frustrating.
Technology escapes DH. Totally and completely. He has an iPhone but knows nothing about it except how to make a call or send a text. However, there is nothing else the man can't fix and he deserves much praise for that. I have never seen a project he was daunted by from home or car repairs, building me an elaborate chicken coop or fixing the AC. So I give him props for that. But I so wish I could add techno geek to his list of attributes!

My DH is the fab geek too. He did get mad a couple weeks ago and started in about not wanting to do IT at home. I told him I wasn't that crazy about doing laundry either and we came to an understanding! He has a constant supply of clean clothes and I get unlimited tech support.

I'm having trouble with my laptop right now and streaming including Netflix It keeps telling me there's an error with the sound. But when I try to do the update they say will fix it, it fails. If I reboot, it's magically fixed. You know its Microsoft when rebooting fixes the issue. Anyway, I haven't had the time or patience to fix it for good. But its so darn frustrating in the meantime.

Years ago when we only had one internet device in our house (the PC), my son & I both set up our iTunes accounts. Annoying that our songs kept showing up in each other's libraries, but we dealt with it.
Fast forward to now and it's driving us bonkers. We can't seem to find a way for one of us to extricate our self w/out having to repurchase all the songs we've already paid for thankyouverymuch.
My son was real excited when the instrumentals from Father of the Bride sprung into his playlist.

They're not too expensive and can make a heap of difference. Since I'm from Australia, I don't know all the electronics stores you have in the US, but I remember this store being mentioned before. HTH Range extender

Probably the same reaction my son had when he had One Direction's "you don't know you're beautiful" show up on his .
I bought it for a workout song, it has a good beat and catchy tune. He didn't believe me.

I just had a flash (slight hijack) - what a great way to torture our teens! I can think of lots of mortifying music to download - Barry Manilow, Donny Osmond, there must be a soundtrack from the Barney show . . .

All it takes at my house to clear a room of teen boys is about five notes of any song that comes from the sound track to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have never seen people move so fast.

I hate iTunes and I don't use that word often. Seems like every time I hook it to my phone I lose something. The last thing lost was all of my patterns in my Sewing Kit app. 100+ sewing patterns that I have to re-enter. I backed up to iTunes before I started, but they were still lost I won't buy music from them as it's just too difficult to add music without losing something. So, all of my music dollars to to Amazon. So much easier!

Same here- he has no cell, no computer, no desire for either. The computer is the root of all evil 'til he wants ME to look something up! I have mentioned in passing that if it wasn't for computer technology, he wouldn't be watching 200+ channels on Dish Network! When encountering technology trouble, I go to our ds who is 19. Dh is a marvel at home and equipment repair, plumbing, electric, carpentry. If he can't find a part for something, he'll do a "McGyver-ism" as he calls it, and it usually works. We only "call the man" under desperate circumstances. Yeah, I'm spoiled by my technology-phobe handyman husband.

I have never been able to make iTunes work on my Window 7 computer. So for the last four years I have not used it. I finally bought a new laptop with Windows 8 and it installed easily. I was so excited. However my Windows 8 laptop is currently in a FedEx box on the way in for service. I've only had it 6 weeks and the lid refuses to shut correctly, and there's a bunch of problems with the case. I'm really hoping the repair facility doesn't turn it on to mess with it. Only external work people, external.

I know your pain. At one point in the past couple of weeks, I had 4 monitors, 3 CPUs, 2 laptops, 2 smart phones, and an iPad sitting on my office desk. All in various states of updating or repair (by my DH). It irritated the crap out of me.

I do use iTunes to rearrange my iPhone and iPad desktops because I can't seem to do it easily on the device (I can do it, it's just easier on iTunes.) I've never had trouble with iTunes and Windows 7, but then I wait a couple of months before upgrading to the latest version, just to make sure they've worked out the kinks. (I confess, that's just another way of saying let other people tear their hair out, I'd rather not!)

Unfortunately, I'm the geek in our house. DH might be intellectually brilliant but he's the pits when it comes to electronics...from smart phones to computers....and he LOVES iTunes but I end up having to solve all his problems that Satan and Steve Jobs created.

I can think of lots of mortifying music to download - Barry Manilow, Donny Osmond, there must be a soundtrack from the Barney show . . . Some years ago, my daughter just hated it when I would play Josh Groban in the car or around the house. She thought his music was stupid. One day she left her MP3 player on the computer desk, hooked up to the computer. So I loaded all my Josh Groban music onto it as a joke. Then waited. LOL! It back fired! She fell in love with his music instead. Which means I now have a partner for when he comes around in concert I only use itunes to back up my iPhone. I use Rhapsody Unlimited for music. Rarely have an issue

My conspiracy theory side thinks that iTunes and other apple things are secretly programmed to play nice with other apple systems and not nice with Microsoft. My DH says no but I really *thnk* that it's true that have an evil genius there so when you have issues with a program they can show you how well it works on an apple product to suck you in.

My DSIL is a software engineer and he just shakes his head at some of the messes he has had to fix on my laptop. . The last one was a virus that wiped out tons of stuff, it took him a couple of days to solve that one.

I haven't used itunes in a couple of years but I always save all of my music to cds or flash drives. That way I have all of my music. You can then open a new account and load all of your music from the cds. I would never not have copies of the music that I purchase. I just don't trust web sites to save/store things for me.

I'm married to a computer genius and we have have a computer consulting company. Part of my job for the company, in addition to handling the finances, is to test the new toys. I usually have one of all the new Apple related toys to hit the market. I play with them until I find a bug, then DH finds a way to fix it. This works great until I find a bug on a toy that I am really enjoying using, like my Apple TV, and DH says he doesn't have time to fix it right then, he'll research it later.
Seriously?! I NEED to go on YOuTube right NOW and I want to do it on my big tv. How can this wait?!
LOL. Yeah, I whine. But then he gets up and fixes my problem. LOL
