DH started a new job begining of July, we thought he would get his first paycheck at the end of the month, so we have been very careful with money so the last check from his last job stretched an extra week. We have been doing really well. Checked our account today and we had WAY more than we should have. Looked back, DH got a check mid July (I know I should check our account much more than I do).
We were wondering what we should do today and I think furniture shopping may be on the agenda. We desperately need a new couch and chair.
I love little surprises like this.

Surprises in my checking account usually mean overdrafts, so that is a great surprise! Have fun shopping for furniture! One of my favorite things to shop for...

That's awesome! Something similar happened last summer when dh got a new job. They get paid on the 1st and 15th. He started on June 10th. We were surprised when on the 15th there was a direct deposit for the first week he worked there.

I thought you were going to say you had some overdrafts. I can only remember getting one good surprise in my account and that was when my National Board bonus showed up for the first time. That was a very fun day!
Have fun shopping.

Surprises usually do go the other way for us. I was using the automated system to check our balance and I thought maybe I was getting the total amount for my account and my dad's, I am on his account. We were trying to think of something to do today since we are all off work and I figured I better double check our balance.
Not sure if we will actually buy anything today, but at least we can look for real.

Well you know it's fun to share. So if it's too much for you I'm sure I could find a use for some extra money. That is a wonderful feeling isn't it when you find extra.

Nice surprise, like when you change out your purse and find a wad of cash that had been left in it.

What a lovely surprise for you! And such fun working out what to do with this little windfall.
A few months ago I was really broke and hanging out til payday. For some reason I had a look at my old bank account that I don't use any more and found some money that had been deposited a couple of months earlier, from a share dividend. I was so excited, but unfortunately I had to use it on bills. Boooo.
That's why I think you should use the money to buy a new couch. When we bought a new couch a couple of years ago, I just gazed at it adoringly for about a month LOL!

I would probably put it in a savings account rather than spend it all. That way I wouldn't feel like I had to be so careful if an expense came up.

I would probably put it in a savings account rather than spend it all. That way I wouldn't feel like I had to be so careful if an expense came up. We did not spend it all, but we had decidedone of his first checks would go towards this. We did buy a couch and recliner. We want to get one more chair, but I could not decided. I found a pattern I liked and a chair I liked, but they were not the same, so we figured I can continue to look. This was it also spreads out our spending a bit, just in case an unexpected expense comes up. Our new furniture will arrive on Wednesday.
