Okay girls, I am going to try and join in this thread. I too broke down and joined WW again just like smartypants71 . I officially started last Monday. I have been doing good all week, and I am walking the rough collie pups one at a time each morning. So I am getting a good walk in each day. My struggle will come next week when my daughter has open heart surgery. I have no idea how I can eat well. The hospital foods are always SO bad. I stayed with her at 3 different hospitals last year, and every cafeteria is dreadful. One did have a Subway so that helped. I have done well all week and don't want to fall off the train next week. There will be tons if sitting and lack of good foods. I am also shocked at how much higher in points things are. One of their desserts I used to love was 4 points; now it is 8 points! Ugh! And the protein bars I love that I thought I would take along next week are way too high to even consider taking. I guess I will have to do my best and not worry about it. We'd LOVE to have you with us!! I'm sorry that your dd has to have surgery. I think you do the best you can during the hospital stay. I would look for some snacks that you could bring with you and honestly, I'd probably be tempted to bring a small little lunchbox/cooler with an ice pack so that I could bring stuff like veggies to snack on. If you don't want to bother with that, you can always bring some fresh fruit, nuts, rice cakes w/pb, etc.

smartypants71 , what protein bars are 6 points? The ones I have are much, much higher. Would love to find a lower point one. Thanks! And missmiss , I can't really pack anything that need to be refrigerated as there won't be anywhere available to keep it. Still have my thinking cap on. The ones I have are Power Crunch Protein Energy Bar Original in the Salted Caramel flavor. It is by far my favorite out of everything I've tried. I went back and looked at my log and it's 7 points though. You can get them at GNC, Walmart and Vitamin Shoppe, but they are cheapest at Vitamin Shoppe.

Hey girls! Had my long work day yesterday and today I am paying for it. I had a minor hip injury back in December. Was healing well when I re-tweaked it two weeks ago. Been dealing with pain on and off and scaling my workouts accordingly, but after my 14 hour day yesterday I was a hotttt mess this morning. My 8 yo DD has the best heart, helping me the best she could. I worked until they found a sub and now I'm home waiting for my massage therapist friend to come over. Once my hip gets too tight, my whole lower back joins in on the party. Next week I go see my chiropractor to see how I can rehab it. I'm on a definite rest day today then I'll see how I feel day to day until then. I'll probably be stuck on the rower all weekend but that's ok. I am tempted to drown my sorrows in peanut butter but it hurts to walk to the kitchen so I should be ok. Ha! I'm going to catch up on some paperwork and maybe do some meal planning for next week. Oh no!! I'm so sorry to hear of the injury. They are THE worst. I have a form of arthritis and from carrying around so much weight for so long, I have bad knees. I want to be a runner in the WORST way...but every single time I try to run, within a month my knees are giving me major issues. I'm really trying to face the fact that I can probably never be a runner. I have arthritis in one hip that tends to cause some back pain. I think I must walk in a weird way when the hip is giving me issues, which causes my back to hurt. Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with it in a long time. I hope the chiropractor can find a way to help!

I'm struggling. Ate 2061 calories today. Didn't exercise. I don't want to make excuses, but I was at work event today. Didn't have a choice of foods there. Lunch was salads, but not the good kind. Tons of calories and I was hungry an hour later. When I came home I was moody and hungry. And ate too much. I don't want to give up and keep thinking the good things I've achieved. I worked out on Tuesday and yesterday. The yesterdays class was a killer, I burned 500+ calories and feel it today. I am going to the gym tomorrow. On the other days I've done pretty ok with the eating. Everyone has days like that though. $hit and life happens. Just don't let it drag you down. Keep thinking of all you DID do though - I see exercise and doing ok with your eating otherwise. One day is just that - one day. No biggie - just keep your head in the game and move onto the next day!!

Thanks brandy327 ! My massage therapist friend just left a little while ago. Everything still is sore but she released a lot of the tightness. She said I was "crunchy", lol. I ate a comfort lunch (peanut butter and pretzels, apples, and cheese), am chugging water, and may squeeze in a short nap before I have to get DD from school. Making myself rest and not think about how far I'll be behind at work tomorrow!

Thank you Brandy!
I think there are a lot of things bringing me down today; not losing any weight last week, being the weakest one at yesterdays class and then eating too much today. But tomorrow is new day!
Keep up the good work all! I love reading how well you are doing, it motivates me to keep moving forward.

So far, so good today. Had my packed breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Got home not too long ago and hopefully my rear will get in gear in the next 10 minutes and I'll pop my exercise DVD in. I'm pooped! I'm hoping to make this week a great first week start to returning to Weight Watchers. I've had several behavioral victories this week regarding food. I'm hoping that it helps me!

I am so envious of everyone writing about your workouts-- even though I'm doing good sticking (mostly) to my very-low-calorie diet plan, I have not made any inroads into getting physical activity back in the mix. It doesn't help that I've been fighting off a bad cold for about a week, now... I finally broke down and took yesterday off work; slept about 12 hours in bed, and a few more on the couch. Today I'm feeling a bit more human, I think. At my weigh-in today, I was down 1 lb, even with hardly any activity and not drinking all my water... my total loss is -24.5 lbs (!! so close!!) and I expect to hit 25 lbs next week. We have friends from out of town coming over on Saturday and we're going out to eat-- I'm giving myself permission to have steak, and (possibly) a few bites of the restaurant's chocolate cake (it's something like 5-7 layers tall). My only goal is to not go too crazy, either on Saturday or Sunday. brandy327-- what you wrote about the burger and fries made me think of something; you said you haven't eaten any fries for 5 weeks... there's nothing wrong with eating a few, if you think you can handle just a few, without wanting to eat more. But think about the fact that your body hasn't digested anything like that for a while, now-- you may have some negative digestive issues if you do eat them. (ask me how I know this, lol-- after doing the Optifast thing for about 6 weeks, we went to the movies-- buttered popcorn-- and to an Indian restaurant-- chicken curry-- and I was sick as a dog for the entire next day.) There's certainly nothing wrong with eating a few fries, but thinking about what they might do to your body, after you've been giving it good fuel, may help you not to overeat. Patter-- just do the best you can while your daughter is in the hospital; good thoughts to all of you, and to her medical team. If it's not too much hassle for you (you'll have enough to think about as it is!), I agree with someone else who mentioned maybe bringing a small cooler with an ice pack, to keep veggies / cheese sticks, yogurt, etc. in if that's the sort of thing you might want to snack on. I don't know how many WW points nuts, etc. are now, but raw almonds are a good snack, and celery sticks, baby carrots, etc. are good 'crunchy' snacks (eating crunchy things helps me when I'm anxious) and they don't really need to be kept all that cold...

I just did piyo upper body. Is it normal that I feel most of the workout in my wrists? I was hardly sore from lower body and am wondering if I should be doing more along with the piyo. Don't feel like it is burning many calories. I have food planned for the day and am going to stick with it. Your wrists will get stronger, but it hurts at first! PiYo will tone you up but I don't feel it's enough for me to lose weight with. I need something a lot more intense. I really enjoy PiYo though and it will definitely sculpt your arms in particular.

I obviously want to tone, but want to lose weight as well. I especially need to strengthen my stomach muscles. I have had 4 c-sections and believe that my muscles are still separated (diastasis recti) although I haven't had success in finding ways that will help that. I don't know if I should move to a different program since I have limited time to exercise or just stick with Piyo for awhile until I get more used to it and see what happens.

DH had hernia repair surgery today so I have been gearing up for that to have everything else settled (had a big landscaping project done this week, fence stained, work is crazy). I packed healthy snacks with me for the waiting room.
Is it bad if I say I'm kind of glad I don't have to fix dinner for a few days :-D
In other news, my total cholesterol has dropped from 210 on Oct 19 to 180 on Feb 2. I'm pleased by that, especially since I am eating low carb and moderate fat/protein. Lots of animal meat being consumed in my house. It seems like the thinking on dietary fat is reversing a bit. I don't know what to believe but know that low carb makes me feel good and lose weight more easily, so I am sticking to it. My doc is very supportive of staying under 100g of carbs per day permanently.

brandy327 -- what you wrote about the burger and fries made me think of something; you said you haven't eaten any fries for 5 weeks... there's nothing wrong with eating a few, if you think you can handle just a few, without wanting to eat more. But think about the fact that your body hasn't digested anything like that for a while, now-- you may have some negative digestive issues if you do eat them. There's certainly nothing wrong with eating a few fries, but thinking about what they might do to your body, after you've been giving it good fuel, may help you not to overeat. I'm sorry you haven't felt well. I was there a couple of weeks ago and I missed at least 3 or 4 workouts in a row. I should've probably taken at least one more off but I was afraid I wouldn't restart. Give your body a chance to recover and then get back at it! And great job on the loss!! About the fries...I think I worry most about saying "oh I'll just have a few" and then eating them all because I love them so much. LOL And the adverse reactions? Oh I know ALL about that. I had my gallbladder removed years ago and since then if I eat anything high in fat I pay dearly for it. LOL You'd think that alone would make me steer clear...but the fries? OMG, they're SO delicious. I had my dh ask our friend the name of the pub we're going to so I was able to look at the menu online. Ugh. They do have a grilled chicken sandwich that I could have and not eat the bun. But as far as sides - it's onion rings or fries. AHHHH! I'll figure something out, I'm sure but ugh. LOL So for the first time since Jan. 5th, I fought hunger ALL freaking day. Used every trick in my arsenal to stay away from the kitchen. I did laundry, kept gum in my mouth, drank lots of water. And I did good - I stayed right on target for eating. Until dinner. It was one of my favorite meals - steak, mini roasted potatoes and the mini corn on the cobs. I had planned on 4oz steak, 1 serving of the potatoes and 1 mini ear of corn. I went back for seconds (first time in 5 weeks) and had 2 more oz of steak and another 1/2 serving of potatoes. All in all I think the meal came to about 550 calories. And I have PLENTY of calories considering I did put in a 40 min workout today but it makes me feel weak. Like my willpower isn't as good as it SHOULD be. Willpower or not, it tasted damned good. And after the extra, I felt satisfied...something I haven't felt all day. I'm having coffee now and am done eating for the day.

LOL I totally understand the happiness behind that. Awesome job on the cholesterol drop. I have a story about my drop in cholesterol. At my heaviest, I weighed about 350 lbs and I want to say it was right after I had ds that they did blood work and checked my cholesterol. Needless to say, it was VERY high. I can't even remember what it was but it was high. And I got a call telling me I needed to change my diet, yada, yada, yada. I'd heard it all before but I wasn't ready. When I finally was ready, I'd been diagnosed with a couple of different autoimmune diseases and saw a couple of specialists so I NEVER went to see my Primary. FF to a couple of years ago when I needed blood work and cholesterol numbers for my dh's wellness program though his employer. I went to the doc, got the bloodwork done and only a couple of days later, the Nurse Practitioner called saying she had the results back. But before she'd tell me my numbers, she asked if I'd made any major changes in my diet since the last time I'd had it done. I told her yes, that I'd lost about 100 lbs and that I'd switched to a low-fat diet and started exercising. She laughed and then said to keep it up. My cholesterol had gone from very, very high to the normal/low range. And it's continued to stay there - just had it done again a few months ago.

Brandy, I think the "extra" you ate sounds really reasonable and frankly, like a good choice. I try to think of my calorie target as a range or an average I am shooting for. There are just some days you are hungrier, and listening to your body about what it needs isn't a willpower issue. It is wise to eat a bit more to satisfaction rather than feeling deprived and using all or nothing thinking.
I would call your dinner and day a success!!! You didn't break a streak since Jan 5, you kept it going by being flexible and keeping the choice in check. You didn't go add on dessert and raiding the fridge later, and you didn't jump to it as the first choice. Maybe you just WERE hungry and legitimately needed more.

It is free on You Tube. Give it one week and see what you think.

Patter, Will you be coming home at night or just staying straight through? I will be staying through so that's my problem with food. No coming home to get stuff, repack, etc. I LOVE almonds but they are quite high in WW points. I love bananas and will certainly be having those but I am still trying to think of other snacks, etc. Their cafeteria really stinks because they are in the midst of renovating and there isn't anything else there. Parking is a REAL pain in the bootie so I really don't want to leave to get food. I will figure it out. I am sure it will be the last of my worries. Hey, maybe I will lose my appetite and lose weight. LOL!

Thursday is my rest day so I'm sitting on the couch with my cat and enjoying not having to get up and work out.
I went shopping after work and decided to stop in to Old Navy for some new workout gear. I was so much happier with what I saw in the mirror than I was last time I was there! Plus they had 40% off compression wear tights. There are few things I love more than new workout gear! Now if only all this snow and reason would go away and I could hit the running trail again.

They're SUPER lightweight so I can't wear them outside most of the time because I'd freeze! LOL And YAY for being happier with what you see in the mirror!!

I tried to run intervals and there was just no way it was happening. My chest was just burning so bad from the cold/bronchitis. It's got worse as the day went on. I decided to run one steady mile instead, and even that was super hard. But I am proud of myself for trying anyways and finishing. Going to make dinner, take a shower, and go to bed when the kids do tonight (way earlier than my usual).

It seems like the thinking on dietary fat is reversing a bit. I don't know what to believe but know that low carb makes me feel good and lose weight more easily, so I am sticking to it. I am a big believer that the fat revolution of the 80's and 90's had it all wrong. I believe the bigger culprit in the obesity epidemic is carbs/sugar.
