After 1 month of counting the calories I still haven't lost a damn pound but I feel better and that's enough for me. I'm done with the scale! Generally I'm so frustrated by now that I've given up but for some reason I am still full of willpower and determination. I ran 5 miles this morning and will get in some ab work before bed too. My goal for next week is to get better with the dinner prep. Great job ladies!

I obviously want to tone, but want to lose weight as well. I especially need to strengthen my stomach muscles. I have had 4 c-sections and believe that my muscles are still separated (diastasis recti) although I haven't had success in finding ways that will help that. I don't know if I should move to a different program since I have limited time to exercise or just stick with Piyo for awhile until I get more used to it and see what happens. Every single time I read your posts I think the same thing... give Bikini Body Mommy a try. I really think it fits everything you are looking for. I really liked the six week mini challenge. It is free on You Tube. Give it one week and see what you think. I I looked at the website and it looks great. She even has a diastasis recti series (premium membership). What were your results?

Ugh! I had my food packed for today and forgot it at home! I did that today too. It's so frustrating! I decided to walk down the street to a Chinese food place. I got shrimp and broccoli with steamed rice. It was delicious and still a healthy choice. I think they'll be seeing a lot more of me in the coming weeks.

I'm not doing too great, healthwise. After the disappointment of not getting the promotion I served a few weeks ago, I decided to change jobs. I found a cool job at a new employer fairly quickly, but I've worked at my current company for 18 years and the whole process has been stressful on me. I don't deal well with stress. I've fallen into my old coping behaviours a few times - bad food choices and lots of sleep, rather then eating healthy and running.
It's stupid, and I know better.
Today is a new day!

Patter I try to bring snacks to work, one snack that I always have in my bag are Butterball smoked turkey sticks. They are 2 points for 3 sticks. Granted, they aren't huge but for me, my brain thinks "hey! I get to have THREE!"

It seems like the thinking on dietary fat is reversing a bit. I don't know what to believe but know that low carb makes me feel good and lose weight more easily, so I am sticking to it. I am a big believer that the fat revolution of the 80's and 90's had it all wrong. I believe the bigger culprit in the obesity epidemic is carbs/sugar. Totally agree! My daughters' saw a nutrionist for many years. We learned so much, and it's the carb/sugar that are so bad. Your body needs the fat to help absorb all of the good nutrients in that salad or whatever you are eating. She said she never eats a salad with low-fat dressing. Add that fat! I know it has worked for me, and that's what I didn't like about the old Weight Watchers. I am still finding some things that are "low" in points have quite a few carbs. But I am also stilll joining my banana with natural peanut butter for the good fat. Yes, it's 6 points but it's what I know is good for me. And TankTop, thank you so much for the ideas. I will add them to my list when I go shopping. We will see what works best. I have some new protein bars coming today to try. They are just 4 points (Quest bars). Oh I hope they taste good.

Now I love turkey sausage and turkey pepperoni but turkey bacon is AWFUL IMO. Ick!

LOL No really, I like them. I found them at Walmart by the beef jerky.

Brandy, I think the "extra" you ate sounds really reasonable and frankly, like a good choice. I try to think of my calorie target as a range or an average I am shooting for. There are just some days you are hungrier, and listening to your body about what it needs isn't a willpower issue. It is wise to eat a bit more to satisfaction rather than feeling deprived and using all or nothing thinking. I would call your dinner and day a success!!! You didn't break a streak since Jan 5, you kept it going by being flexible and keeping the choice in check. You didn't go add on dessert and raiding the fridge later, and you didn't jump to it as the first choice. Maybe you just WERE hungry and legitimately needed more. ^^^ I totally agree with this. And after all the information I've been learning about food addiction (sugar and carbs, in particular) and what those chemicals do to our brain (such as: rats addicted to cocaine will turn down cocaine for SUGAR, because it's a better high for them than the cocaine), I think talking about 'willpower' is bunk- in part, anyway. Perhaps for some people it can be as simple as willpower alone, but not for everyone. Addiction to foods / sugar / carbs is a real thing, and it's tough to overcome. Part of my weight loss plan is classes with a psychologist, and something that really resonated with me is that thinking about it as dieting, in terms of black & white, foods as good or bad, etc. is setting yourself up for failure; also learning to tell the difference between head hunger (a psychological urge) vs. physical hunger was important for me. (such as: see a commercial for ice cream on TV, and voila, now I want ice cream or some other sweet snack-- It's just a psychological urge; I'm not really hungry, so I don't immediately go to the kitchen.) We all need to be flexible with our eating plan and make it fit into our life at any given time... making conscious decisions about what we eat, even if it's not the 'healthiest' option at the time- if it's something I truly want, and I deliberately decide to eat it, there's nothing 'wrong' with that. I think what you ate for that meal was totally reasonable, as well. You made conscious decisions to eat the food you ate, and you didn't binge mindlessly on empty calories.
