Does anyone use this soft ware and its companion software for photo editing?
I NEED a desktop publisher and it will soon be time to update my 2008ish computer. It doesn't look like I'll be able to move my current adobe products. I am SUPER unhappy with the subscription aspect they have moved to so I am investigating alternatives.
What non adobe programs do you use for photo editing, publications and graphics do you use and do you like it? Basically I am looking to replace photoshop and illustrator for less than $20 a month for the rest of my computer using life....
eta: I'm not looking for free. I am willing to pay a reasonable ONE TIME payment ($100 - $150)

Is PSE strong enough to do what you want? You can buy it outright.

I think CS6 is the last version that you can actually phsyically download. Maybe you can just invest in that?

Even if it were, the newest operating system it will run on is windows 7. If I upgrade my whole system I'll upgrade all the way. PSE and lightroom can be bought. But they have moved everything else to subscriptions.

Ugh, how frustrating! I was hoping that was an easy solution. I have CS6 - the cost of the subscription is out of my budget.

I use PSE that I bought at Costco when it was under $60 and the home/student version of CorelDraw which was about $129 at Staples. Between the two I can do just about everything I need to.

I caved and went for the subscription. It kills me but there was no choice, as we have several computers at work that need to collaborate. I'm still using CS4 on one, but it's becoming more problematic. I'll be interested in what others are using.

Adobe does have education pricing on the subscriptions, so if you're in school or have a child in school that might be an option.

Are you trying to replace the InDesign portion too? MS Publisher is not as sophisticated, but depending on your business could be adequate.

The plan I would need to get the programs I want is $20 a month.. $240 a year forever; or more if the price goes up. I'd pay $240 for a program but I want to own it so I can use it 5 years or more. A $20 subscription for 5 years becomes $1200 (as long as it doesn't go up!) I paid $200 for my current CS5 that I've been using for the past 5 years so the yearly price of ownership is going down instead of up. I am an unhappy adobe camper over the subscription change so I am willing to leave. There are alternatives out there and that is what I'm interested in.
