My co-worker and I had a situation at work today with another co-worker that made us both so mad and I could feel the tears welling up. I absolutely hate that I do that, but I can't seem to control it. It's either that or go batshit crazy on the person. I felt slightly better that my co-worker/friend had the same reaction. So we shut the door to our room until we could compose ourselves. Just wondering if we are alone.

Raising my hand! And one time the person thought I was sad ... nope!

Me too. And then I get even more angry at myself for being too emotional about it.

Nope, not alone. Yet I rarely cry when reading books, watching movies, TV, or plays.

Holding my hand up. I have two possible responses to extreme anger- the tears OR sometimes I get stone cold, clear thoughts and a tongue like a razor. I know which one I prefer and I wish I could bottle it for when I really need it.

Oh boy.... yeah.. let the times be sad and I'm stone faced unemotional. But get me mad, into a fit of righteous indignation and the tears roll like hot lava.

Oh I hate this about me! And I want to talk and I can't because I'll start to cry even though I'm just so mad. My voice will start to crack and I just have to stop. And yes people think I'm just sad, nope, I'm mad!

Yep. And like everyone else, I hate it. No one ever takes you seriously when you bust out the tears.

Yes. I cry when I'm really passionate about something. It can be anger--but it can also be from sincere caring or empathy...the problem is that I'm a manager and that does not go over well in corporate America. So, I try to distance myself from what needs to be said in order to shut off whatever it is that triggers tears!!
Frustration is a huge trigger--so I work to control my level of frustration constantly.

Yes I have been known to be in this situation and it is so awful.
I feel as though it makes me look so unprofessional as well if it happens in the office.

This happens to me too. I have to g take a day or sometimes two in order to gain composure and perspective so that I can address the issue.
Though in leadership roles when I'm angry at someone directly for something they did I am fine, but if it is personal, like between me and a coworker and I feel put on the defensive, the waterworks will happen. So frustrating!

Yes. For sure. And also when I'm embarrassed. No red face here-just a wet one.

Yes and I hate it!! I cry fairly easily, but hate when I do it as a reaction to this emotion.

OMG yes, I do this, and I absolutely HATE it! I have cried at work a couple of times, for this reason, which is just mortifying. I cannot seem to control it when this happens, so I just make a quick exit and, like you did OP, I compose myself in private.

Yep, it's so I don't haul off and punch someone. My husband believes it's not just from that incident, but everything that has boiled up to it.

Same here. It looks so unprofessional and in front of a classroom full of students? Ugh. Fortunately I rarely get that angry at the kids. It's the adults who piss me off to the point of tears.

Not stone cold emotional with books or movies, most of the time, but if my ire gets pricked, it is Katie bar the door on the tears. My DH knows that once the tears are on, it is over. Best to walk away.

Yes! And I hate it. But it really is indicative of the level of restraint I'm exercising to hold the anger in. All that emotion has to come out one way or another...
I'm just grateful I'm not a splotchy cryer. My college roommate would shed one tear and her face was a red mess. I can cry a torrent of tears, and my eyelids just swell. Otherwise, 2 minutes later and a quick makeup check, and you'd never know the tears had fallen.

Nope, I don't cry easily. I did when my dad lived with us, but after my parents divorced when I was in my early teens and with me being the eldest of three girls, I didn't allow myself the luxury. My daughters, on the other hand, drop those tears when they are angry or emotional and I secretly wish that I could do that.

Wow, it's comforting to see so many of you do it too. I don't do it as much as an adult, but when I was young I did. My older brother loved making me mad so he could laugh at me when I cried, which made me cry more because I was do angry.

Always.
Cry when I'm mad, cry when I'm happy, cry when I laugh, cry when I'm touched.
I'm a crier and I can't help it. Annoying a lot of the time!
