On a Saturday afternoon, when all the college kids and their moms will be dorm shopping, and the thing I need is exactly in the middle of the store-- so there'll be no cheating and going in the back way...
Ugh... Why do I always procrastinate?

I would use that as an excuse to procrastinate a little bit more. I figure if I have lived without it so far what the heck is another couple of weeks or maybe a month.

If you have to go on a Saturday, do it about an hour before close. Crowds are light after dinner

Good luck! I went to IKEA one saturday before they opened, and when the doors opened, people were running, pushing and behaving like crazy! Never again!

Nooooooooo! I hate Ikea with a passion. No way. Not on a Saturday! Although I will admit that the one I go to now has a lot les annoying people in it than the Chicago area ones. Especially Schaumburg, THAT is the 7th level of Hell.

If you can imagine, I have never been to an IKEA store. There are two about an hour away (west and east of me) but none close by. So, I always think about going, but it is a day trip and just haven't ever really gotten around to it.

We went one time last year during pre-college season and I swore that I would never step foot in there again during the months of July and August.
I hope you survive the trip!

I LOATHE Ikea. With a passion. I don't believe you could pay me to go in there...much less buy anything. And on a Saturday? Ugh!

I hate going to IKEA, I always get lost in there! Saturday and IKEA together is the stuff of nightmares.
Hope you make it out in one piece.

Unless you need whatever item you need, I would strongly suggest you leave it until tomorrow and the arrive before they open. Our Ikea here has been open for years and it's still impossible on a weekend. If not, all the best to you because I suspect it will be brutal!

That is one place my kids NEVER want to go again-the last time we went was about 9 years ago, and they still talk about how horrible it was! I love their stuff, but not enough to actually shop there.

You deserve one of those big chocolate bra at the cash register- or 3 for $5! I totally want this! I did not see these at Ikea the last time I was there. I may make a special trip ! Honestly, though, I am assuming you meant chocolate bars, and I didn't know that they had those either. Are they good? I enjoy the cinnamon rolls there. I can usually get my family to go to Ikea with me if I promise to reward them with cinnamon rolls.

You deserve one of those big chocolate bra at the cash register- or 3 for $5! Chocolate bras could be a real problem in the Florida summer heat. But the potential for some...fun...is definitely there.

I have only been once. It's in Emeryville which is right across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco. IF you survive the traffic getting there, you have to survive the masses in the store as it is the only one in the East Bay. When I went DH was with me. Need I elaborate? I would have liked to browse to my heart's cotnent but alas, it was not to be. We didn't buy one stinking thing.

Last year during back to school crush at Ikea, a mom and daughter pair stocking up for her new dorm room proceeded to denude the model rooms of all the cool accessories-- picture frames, throw pillows made from Ikea fabric and there as samples -- not for sale, shadow boxes, cute baskets. All went into the total of 4 carts they were pushing/pulling between them.
Hearing their southern accents and deducing that they may not be from around here, and that maybe this was their very first Ikea exposure, I put on my best kindly-face and said -- "it might help to know that these tags indicate that what you have here are sample items for display, and you can pick up your very own item at this aisle and bin in the warehouse, clearly notated here". However, good turns are not rewarded. The girl glared at me and sneered. The mother said "Bless your heart, we know that. We're just keeping them until we decide if those are things we want. Don't worry. We'll put everything back for you". Which I so doubt-- as putting everything back would entail going through the entire packed store once again. Wouldn't you know it, I continually ran into that pair as we snaked through the store, with them glaring at me with strange hostility each and every time.
I like Ikea, but I hate Ikea crowded. We're lucky that ours is very reasonable most of the time.
