Happy Friday ladies!! It's snowing here this morning - I think we're supposed to get 1-3" maybe. It was 50 yesterday so big swings in the weather this winter. The scale was up just a little bit this morning - I blame my big dinner last night but I'm not worried. I have a long to-do list today but I'm still hoping to work out at some point. I had my dh ask our friend the name of the pub we're going to tomorrow night so I was able to see the menu. EEK. Not a lot of good choices. The only sides are fries or onion rings. I think I'm going to pack some food and eat before the service so that when we go to the pub, I only need a little bit and I don't have to order the fried stuff. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!! What's on everyone's agenda for the weekend?

I am so exhausted. For the first time since June 1st I think I am going to allow myself an extra rest day. We shall see if I cave and workout after work.
Can someone tell me about fitness bands? I am looking for something that will track steps, heart rate, calories burned, not look ugly, and not require a chest strap. Am I asking too much?

LOL It's the part about not looking ugly that makes it realistic. I have a Samsung Gear Fit 2. I absolutely love it but it's a bit on the bigger side - but because I'm a big person, I think it fits and looks ok on me. I love all the things it has on it. It does have most of the things you're looking for...the heart rate thing. I know it's capable but it's not something I typically use so I have no idea the extent of which you can monitor it. I have a Samsung Note 5 for a phone so the 2 pair well together.

I took the dog for long walk in the 56 degree sunny day yesterday afternoon. School is cancelled today. The snow just started and we're expecting 6-8" by early this afternoon. I've exercised five days so far this week. I'll count shoveling today since there won't be any nice sunny walks. I had a really good food day yesterday, and even had calories room for a mint patty frozen yogurt from Richardson's dairy last night. Yum.

Good morning everyone. I ouprosely left my schedule light today so that I could get things done (for work as well as spend time with my older two who don't have school today) and guess what? It appears I will have to figure out what is wrong with the furnace. It is so cold in here. There is no display on the thermostat and changing batteries didn't help. Hoping all I have to do is buy a new one (although this one is only a year old). Cross your fingers Tanktop mentioned BBM yesterday and I am going to give that a try for workouts. Yesterday I forgot my lunch. I wasn't hungry until about 3:30 so caved and went to McDonald's. That was my lunch and dinner so I was still under cals for the day but obviously not what I had planned. At that point I didn't have time to get a salad since I needed to eat on my way back to the office. The boys want to go to lunch today. Not sure where we will go. Oldest has been pointing out all of the places he has never eaten and says he feels deprived. . I figured taking the older two would be cheaper and less chaotic than going with everyone and it is something special just for them.

My knees are a bit sensitive today so I thought I should take it easy. I decided to do the low impact PIYO video. It was great for my knees but oh my goodness, it was not an easy workout. I only get the one preview video with my beachbody on demand. I think I'll be buying this over the summer when I visit the U.S.

LOL This one so far has dropped about 2 inches and we just got a call from the school saying that one bus has gotten stuck 2 times already on it's route and it won't be finishing. And that another bus is running more than 30 mins late. Yeah, dumb asses should've cancelled school. But because we were in the 1-3" range, they figured it was no big deal.

We haven't gotten much snow here, either (north central Minnesota). We have been just on the edge of "a lot of snow" several times. My mom lives in northwest Iowa and they got 14" the other day. They have had a ton of snow already this year. Even though winter has been mild this year, I am ready for spring.

I have been to the gym 3 days this week and been on track with food. I have lost the 2 lbs I gained last week and 1 more to put me at 10 total in 3 weeks. I have lost this same 10 lbs 3 times in the last 12 months. However I feel like I am in the right frame of mind this time and enjoying working out and trying to make it a lifestyle change and not a short term diet.
Love the encouragement of this thread.

LOL - probably! Look at Garmin and Fitbit - either brand may have what you need. From what I understand, the wrist HR monitors are not as accurate as the chest straps. I swam yesterday, followed by a 2.5 mile run. Today is a "rest" day, which will include a one mile walk on a work break and a walk tonight (probably a mile, depending on how far my friends want to go) at my local running store's monthly ladies night. Tomorrow morning is a four mile run and Sunday is a bike trainer ride in the morning and a two mile run in the afternoon. Planning a splurge day for Sunday as far as food, but not too crazy. Crockpot pulled pork & homemade macaroni and cheese for dinner, chips and homemade guac for a snack, and brownies for dessert. I'm down to my lowest weight in over ten years and I'm the most physically fit as I have ever been in my life, so I think I've earned it ;-)

Good morning all!!!
Got in my hour bike ride this morning on the trainer. It was a nice recovery ride keeping heartbeat below 112 bpm. Since starting my plan my ride like this 1 month ago I was at 12.8 mph avg with heart rate around 110 bpm today 13.9 mph hear rate 107 bpm avg. That made for a great morning to see improvement.
Go into the weekend strong and be healthy all. You can do it!

Good morning! Had an awesome workout at Orangetheory last night. It was an ESP workout (endurance, strength, power), so it was a good overall one. I burned 505 calories. Woohoo! Today is a rest day for me. If it doesn't rain, I'll be doing a 4 mile run on Saturday. My legs are taking a beating, so I'm going to the park to run so I can get on a crushed granite path and get some different scenery. Meals are going to be a challenge for me today. I had my usually healthy breakfast, but I have a dentist appointment at lunch, so I need to figure out something healthy on the run. Then tonight, my son has a band function and they are serving spaghetti dinner at 430. First of all, dinner at 430? I usually don't leave work until 430. Plus, I cannot eat pasta because my blood sugar stays high for hours even with extra insulin. So I once again, have to find something healthy and quick to take with me. THEN the concert doesn't even start until 630, so I'll be at this event for FOUR hours. Not exactly how I want to spend Friday night. Oh well! I'll be bringing my Kindle for sure!

TGIF! I ended up having to take the day off work due to fever/chills/yuckiness. So disappointed. We had a busy weekend planned and was supposed to take my kids out of school early today to go out of town for a night to shop and eat and have some fun. I had to cancel that, much to their dismay. When I am sick is when I really dislike this single mom business. Oh well they're good girls and will find stuff to keep them busy hopefully. I'm going to bed and not worrying about diet/exercise for today. Hope everybody else is healthy and having a great day!

Waiting for DH to get home so we can go shopping forstuff for DS birthday tomorrow, but he's late as usual. I keep putting off my workout so I don't have to redo my face and hair before shopping. The clock is ticking! I guess it will be a late workout tonight.

TGIF!
I had a really tough night last night. DD kept waking up crying (she's 8, but I guess she was having nightmares), then hogged all the covers after I put her in bed with me. My hip really flared up after we met friends for dinner, and that food must have been super salty because I had to pee at least once an hour, but that was an ordeal because getting out of bed was painful. I got maybe 4 hours of sleep. Someday this will be funny, but this morning it wasn't!
Getting dressed was no fun but as I got into my day I started moving better and better. It's all a bit tight now so I'm spending my Friday night with a heating pad.
In almost 4 years of CrossFit this is only my second injury. Not bad coaching, not bad form, just one small foot slip during a lift I've done a gajillion times. It happens. Trying to give myself grace and not to get too antsy while I put myself on full rest as I wait to see my chiro on Monday.
I give the same advice to my friends who are sick or nursing an injury--give yourself grace. You won't lose all your good habits or gains/losses with rest. If anything, you'll help your body in the long run.
